Our Black @ OneTrust ETG hosted a luncheon in Atlanta this week to observe Juneteenth. It was an opportunity for our employees to network and celebrate together. While our team in the US recognizes Juneteenth as a company holiday, it's so much more than a day off. We hope that everyone took the time to participate in local activities or learn about the progress that's been made so far while recognizing the work ahead towards equality. #Juneteenth #OneTeamOneTrust #LifeatOneTrust

Encouraged by my network, I'm excited to invite you to join Marked Safe, a new initiative dedicated to Black women's empowerment in the workplace. This platform offers a safe space for sharing experiences - both positive and challenging - faced in professional environments. The inception of this idea was sparked by the growing demand for action in creating avenues that ensure the safety and support of Black women in their professional environments. 🌟 Why Marked Safe? Black women are increasingly leaving leadership roles and facing undue stress due to workplace issues like bullying, harassment, and lack of support, despite companies claiming to support Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). Marked Safe aims to make DEI more than just a term; it's about accountability and ensuring safety. ✍🏾The Black Female Voice Matters By sharing your stories, you're not only shedding light on your journey but also guiding others in making informed decisions about their career paths. Your insights can help build a community that advocates for safer, more inclusive work environments. How to Get Involved: 🙏🏾 Participate by visiting Marked Safe: https://lnkd.in/gRYbMmea and sharing your experience with safety. Your contribution can make a significant difference! 🤝🏾 Let's join hands in making workplaces better for every Black woman. Share, participate, and let these voices be heard and seen. #MarkedSafe #Empowerment #WorkplaceInclusion #MakeYourMark

Today, we honor Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day. It is a time to reflect on our past, celebrate progress, and renew our commitment to equity, equality, and justice for all. This historic day holds tremendous significance in our nation’s history. Observing Juneteenth is not only about acknowledging the struggles and triumphs of the past but also about recognizing the work that still lies ahead. It serves as a powerful reminder that the fight for equality and social justice is ongoing. It is a call to action to address systemic racism, promote inclusivity, and create a more equitable society for future generations. As we commemorate Juneteenth, let us honor the resilience, strength, and contributions of Black Americans throughout history. Let us amplify their voices, uplift their stories, and support their pursuit of justice and equality. By standing together, we can build a future where everyone is treated with dignity, respect, and fairness. I was recently listening to a podcast where I learned of the amazing activism and resiliency of Claudette Colvin. Her story is an inspiration - I encourage you to take a look and learn about the brave 15-year-old who took a stand on a bus in 1955, 9 months ahead of Rosa Parks, ultimately sparking the plans for the bus boycott in Alabama and significantly contributing to the Civil Rights movement. https://lnkd.in/gNCGGJuP #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #Equality #Justice #Inclusion #SocialJustice #EmancipationDay #BlackHistory #UnitedByEquality #DEI

At Family Action, we want to be a truly inclusive organisation. Our Anti-Racism and People of Colour Staff Diversity Network meet regularly to discuss policy and ensure that all staff and volunteers have a voice to shape our organisation. Internally, we provide a wide variety of resources (videos, podcasts, articles) to support and educate colleagues including: ▪️ How to be an ally ▪️ Non-racist versus Anti-racist ▪️ Representation Matters ▪️ Microaggressions Recently, we asked our staff “Who has inspired you and why?” which allows us to shine the spotlight on people, resources, music, and writing that has been of great support to our Black colleagues. The recommendations have been featured in news articles on our Intranet. We believe in developing a workforce that recognises that it is valued and respected, and whose diversity reflects the communities it serves. Our Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion department plays a central role in meeting these commitments and creating an equitable, diverse, and inclusive organisation for staff, volunteers, and families. We recognize the ongoing struggle for racial justice and equality, dedicate ourselves to continually learning more about these struggles, and acknowledge that there are systemic barriers built into society that we seek to address in our co-op. Hear my wonderful colleague Karen Geddes QPM BA (Hons) talk about the Women in the Shade conference. This one-day conference will create an environment where Black women's talents, unique experiences, and perspectives are acknowledged, respected, and valued. We aim to discuss: - Why is there such a disparity of Black women in senior leadership roles compared to their white counterparts by reviewing and analysing data - How does this impact Black women and how can they be supported to survive and thrive in this workplace culture? - Does addressing racism and sexism include the experiences of Black women? - What are the implications and impact of a lack of Black women diversity for organisations such as the police? - How do we celebrate and give a voice to those Black women who have completed 30 years of service? To provide inclusive leadership which drives change within policing so that it is - Fully inclusive by: - Making meaningful and sustainable progress in eliminating discrimination based on ethnicity and gender. - Empowering and supporting Black Women Our thanks to BT Group for supporting us and providing a fantastic venue to hold our conference. #womenintheshade

As we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the #MarchOnWashington we remember how the march aimed to rectify employment inequalities for Black Americans. These structural and systemic race based inequalities persist today in the form of pay gaps and experience gaps that can prevent long term career success for youth of color. In the fight for justice and equality we can’t forget how #racialjustice is intertwined with #economicjustice. #equitymatters
