In a bold move to expand its global reach, LaLiga is exploring the possibility of hosting official league matches in the U.S. as early as the 2025-2026 season. Javier Tebas, President of LaLiga, views this initiative as crucial for strengthening LaLiga’s presence in North America, explaining, "An official game in the United States would strengthen our position in the North American market, which is the second [biggest] for LaLiga after Spain." This strategy is a huge growth opportunity and an innovative way to engage directly with American fans and introduce them to the vibrant Spanish football culture. As the sports industry becomes increasingly global and competitive, such proactive steps are essential for leagues that aim to expand their influence and capitalize on new market opportunities. #LaLiga #LeagueExpansion #GlobalSports #LaLigaNorthAmerica

🔵 City Football Group (CFG) who owns multiple clubs, including Girona FC and Manchester City FC, will need to reduce its stake in one of the two clubs if they want both to participate in the Champions League next season. 🤝 UEFA has presented the investment group with 2 options that would enable both sides to participate in next season’s UCL: 🔹 CFG can either transfer all shares in either Man City or Girona to an independent trust managed by a panel appointed by UEFA. 🔹 CFG can also sell shares to a separate third party that reduces one ownership stake to below 30%. The investment group currently owns 100% of Man City and 47% of Girona. ⏳ CFG must comply by June 3 to avoid possible penalties, which include one club being put into the Europa League. #mancity #girona #cityfootballgroup #football #uefa

#Multiclub #ownership should be banned. Period. When groups own clubs on different continents, they can engage in transfers that allow them to play around rules and that gives them an unfair advantage over other clubs m. When groups own clubs that compete in the same competition like in European #competitions, the conflict of interests is worse even with a 30% or a 10% stake and even with a trust. In the case of #Girona, there is common ownership, #Manchestercity 's manager Pep #Guardiola's brother is Girona's chairman, and several players were moved from City to Girona and played an important role in Girona's great performance this year. What would happen if Girona were to face City in next year's Champions League? #governance #sport #business #uefa #football #competition #fairness #competitionpolicy https://lnkd.in/eUY_H5dE

Title: Real Madrid's Classy Gesture: A Lesson in Sportsmanship In a display of true sportsmanship and respect, Real Madrid has decided not to receive the La Liga trophy at Granada's stadium. The decision comes as a show of consideration for Granada players, who are currently facing the risk of relegation. Real Madrid's decision reflects the values of sportsmanship, fair play, and respect for their fellow competitors. It highlights the club's understanding of the importance of empathy and consideration in the world of sports. This gesture by Real Madrid serves as a reminder of the importance of respect and sportsmanship in football. It sets an example for other clubs to follow, showing that winning is not just about the trophy, but also about the way it is won and the values it represents. As Real Madrid continues to showcase its class both on and off the field, it reminds us all that true champions are not just measured by their victories, but also by their actions and their respect for the game and their opponents.

AC Milan Business Case: Revenue pushes the club into profit after ¡¡17 years!! ⚫ AC Milan is one of the best-known clubs globally, as well as one of the clubs with the largest fan base. On top of that, is one of the most decorated teams in European football (7x UEFA Champions League and 19x League Titles) 🔴 The club released its results a few days ago. In their report, they accounted a profit (€6.1m) for the first time since 2006, as well as a record-level of Revenues in the club's history (€404m) ⚫ This is mainly due to an increase in sponsorship, ticketing and matchday revenues and from the increase generated by media and TV rights, the three of them being conditioned by the club's excellent on-field results in recent seasons, especially in Europe, where the Italian giants reached the semi-finals in the last edition and have been now engaged in the maximum competition for 3 consecutive years 🔴 This comes just one year after Redbird Capital acquired a majority stake in the club (Aug'22). It appears to be just the beginning of the plans that the American PE has in store for the club, as with 22/23 financial Report AC Milan also highlighted an investment of €40 million, aimed at resolutely advancing the project for a New Stadium #sports #sportsbiz #linkedinsports #footballfinance

9% YoY growth, ~$205M per year from shirt sponsorship. $6.6b Market value 😳 One of the latest example of how Real Madrid C.F. is getting top talent and getting positive ROI in a matter of months, Arda Güler. Young talent scouted from Fenerbahçe SK acquired for ~€21M less than one year ago and already (allegedly) receiving offers from Arsenal ~€45M, from Manchester United ~€51M to name a few, these offers are expected to go up. It’s these types of transfers that also add on to player transfer income but more importantly the scouting ability and talent is what brings the club victory on and off the field. U may think €20-€30M profit is nothing, that’s where u may go wrong because these types of transfers go beyond the €€€, it brings victory in varies ways that gives the club more leverage for future strategic planning. ⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

🔝 FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain FC stand out significantly among the European champions, surpassing the six-hundred million mark in staff costs. ⚖ They are also the only clubs among the champions, along with Galatasaray SK, exceeding the 70% recommended threshold of staff-costs-to-revenue ratio. 📊 It is worth noting that SSC Napoli’s staff costs, showcasing the lowest figure overall among the champions of “Big Five” leagues, are almost six times lower than FC Barcelona’s. Moreover, the club also achieved the lowest staff-costs-to-revenue ratio (40%) in the entire 16-club sample. 📖 Read the full European Champions Report 2024 here: https://lnkd.in/dMACsz95
