🔌Are workplace charging options left behind?🚗 According to the  Public-Charging-Studie 2023 conducted by Uscale, which sheds light on the state of public charging infrastructure in Germany, workplace charging facilities are failing to meet expectations despite the increasing number of EVs on German roads. 🔎Key findings from the study reveal that while 86% of EV drivers utilize public charging stations, only 33% take advantage of workplace charging options. This discrepancy is attributed to employers prioritizing charging facilities for company-owned vehicles rather than private EV owners. Moreover, there are disparities in cost coverage, with only 48% of employers covering charging costs for employees with private EVs compared to 82% for company-owned vehicles. Despite the attractiveness of workplace charging, improvements such as more charging points are desired by EV drivers. Turn the lights off! But really, turn the lights off. I am currently working on sustainability project to help my company save $5000-$8000 in a year on their electric bill. Here is what I found and see if you can apply it at your facility as well... 1. Electric Bill First look at your electric bill for a whole year to see what your company paid for a whole year of power. 2. Identify Opportunities to Save Start taking a walk around your whole facility, look at the areas that use most lights. Ask yourself, can we get change light bulbs from an energy consuming light to a more energy efficient light? What about just simply installing motion sensors? Really target areas where you know lights are constantly left on. 3. Put an Action Plan in Place Talk with your teams and when you have your plan ready and implement those steps into place so you can begin seeing results. 4. Track Your Progress The easiest way to track your money savings is to check your new electric bills and compare it to previous bills. Remember to remind your employer of what an awesome job you did saving them money, especially during your mid or annual review, they will remember the money you saved them and it may help you receive a bump in your salary.
