Today marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the largest land, sea and air invasion ever assembled, and one of the most famous single days in all of human history. Approximately 16.4 million Americans served in the military during WWII, fewer than 100,000 are still alive today. On this day, veterans from over the world will join dignitaries and heads of state to commemorate the approximately 160,000 Allied troops who, eight decades ago, stormed the beaches of Normandy. The 80th anniversary will be a memorably powerful event, as it may be the last chance for D-Day veterans to return to the beaches where they landed, where they fought and alongside their brothers-in-arms. “The eyes of the world are upon you. The hope and prayers of liberty-loving people everywhere march with you…you will bring about the destruction of the German war machine, the elimination of Nazi tyranny over the oppressed peoples of Europe, and security for ourselves in a free world. Your task will not be an easy one…The tide has turned! The free men of the world are marching together…We will accept nothing less than full victory!” -Gen. Eisenhower (Order of the Day Address) #DDay #WWII #Normandy #veterans #remembrance #celebration #TeamOSG #federalcontracting

🌊💔 Last night on the way back to the hotel, we stopped by Omaha Beach in Normandy, France to try to capture the moonlight. It It was cloudy and windy and the moon was barely visible, but we captured a few photos while we were there. 💔🌊 Omaha Beach, located in Normandy, France, witnessed one of the most daring and consequential military operations in history: the landings on June 6, 1944, famously known as D-Day. As the largest amphibious assault ever attempted, it was a coordinated effort by Allied forces to establish a foothold in Nazi-occupied Europe. Thousands of American troops, alongside their British and Canadian counterparts, stormed the heavily fortified German defenses at Omaha Beach. Their objective was to secure a vital beachhead, allowing for the subsequent liberation of France and the eventual collapse of Hitler's regime. 🌍🔓 However, Omaha Beach was not easily conquered. The soldiers faced a fierce enemy, strong artillery fire, and treacherous obstacles. Despite the overwhelming odds, their unwavering determination, selflessness, and indomitable spirit prevailed. Their sacrifice and bravery paved the way for freedom, inspiring generations to come. 🎗️💪🏼 Omaha Beach stands as a reminder of the immense courage and resilience displayed by those who fought for a better world. #Dday #Normandy #OmahaBeach #FreedomPrevails #WWII #HeroesAmongUs

I thought it might be fitting on this Veterans Day to look back at the history of this federal holiday. November 11th was chosen to celebrate all those who served in the military due to the end of WWI, aka the great war. It's unknown how many people perished in WWI, but it was horrific. The census.org estimates the total number of deaths included 9.7 million military personnel and about 10 million civilians. The Armistice was signed by France's Ferdinand Foch, along with other Allies and Germany, inside of his private railway car at Compagnie, France. The truce would start on the 11th hour, of the 11th day, of the 11th month, in November 1918, or 105 years ago today. A rational and sane person might think the lesson of WWI would be so severe and fresh that it would prevent wars for a very long time--particularly in Europe, but 21 years later WWII would begin when Germany invaded Poland, starting a war that would ultimately cost the lives of nearly 15 million military personnel and 38 million civilians (DCAS). While war is probably still inevitable, I think one of the best ways we can honor those who serve, as well as those who lost their lives in wars, is to prevent wars whenever possible, and mitigate casualties as much as possible when wars are unavoidable. https://lnkd.in/g7AHQZfu

World War I, also known as "The Great War," officially concluded with the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on June 28, 1919, at the Palace of Versailles in France. The actual cessation of hostilities, however, occurred seven months earlier through an armistice between the Allied nations and Germany, taking effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. This is why November 11, 1918, is commonly recognized as the end of "the war to end all wars." Veterans Day is consistently observed on November 11, irrespective of the day of the week. This decision not only preserves the historical significance of the date but also directs attention to the essential purpose of Veterans Day: a celebration honoring America's veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and their readiness to serve and sacrifice for the common good of our society. Our Nation is truly grateful for your service and sacrifice. #VeteransDay #Veterans #ThankAVeteran #USVeterans #VeteransAffairs #VeteranSupport #SupportOurVeterans #Heroes #Patriot #FederalHoliday #AmericanSoldier #ArmedForces #SayThankYou #circleurgentcare #statenisland #statenislandstrong #siny #collegeofstatenisland #statenislandmoms #statenislandparent #statenislandnewyork #tottenville #eltingville #bullshead #stayhealthy #urgentcare

Today, August 14, 2023, marks the 78th anniversary of the end of World War II, also called VJ Day; Victory over Japan; the day Japan surrendered to the Allies, August 14th, 1945. Of the 16 million Americans who served during World War II, 405,399 Americans died. This number includes the 72,000 Americans that still remain unaccounted for. Today, there are less than 300,000 American World War II Veterans still alive. For most American families, especially those with relatives who recall the Second World War, August 14th is a remembrance of the end of a global conflict that cost more than 50 million lives. The memory of that war varies widely, now, depending on a family’s perspective. It may be a proud if solemn moment to mark with the dwindling number of American veterans of that conflict. More than 500 WWII veterans now die each and every day. Let's all take a moment today and salute our Greatest Generation and the end of World War II. #worldwar2 #vjday #veterans #thegreatestgeneration #military

A Confederacy of Dunces is a novel by the late O'toole which shows a society deep within societal norm decay. The assertion of Kimberly Guilfoyle as to the Normandy June 6 invasion 1944 purported by her to be an attack on Communism rather than Nazi Germany is willful societal decay on her part to fit an asinine Maga agenda. I cannot believe Kimberly believes the canard she dropped. Similarly GOP representatives know full well through FBI reports that immigrants commit LESS crimes on average than native born USA 🇺🇸 citizens This is akin to over 20 fraudulent ie bogus explanations given by Putin as why he invaded Ukraine 🇺🇦 The objective of such lying is to exhaust audiences into doubt as to being able to determine objective fact. ie in the morphing of individuals into helpless servitude to big brother. Read " Darkness at noon" by Koestler as he walked in dialog the journey of an imprisoned Russian victim in the 1930s to be a willing partner in his own destruction via a show trial as described by Koestler about 1940. For that servitude to willful lying is all what the deadly play acting in Milwaukee earlier this week is all about. Note that in the Ukraine war Russian propaganda tries to force people to stop people believing in objective truth as obtainable by Russian citizens. ie to flat out give up on truth itself. Much the same way the garbage peddled for 4 days in Milwaukee is designed to destroy American 🇺🇸 fidelity to objective facts independent of Trump administration propaganda. Ie to exhaust audiences into meek servitude by convincing them that the search for objective fact is meaningless. That is the horror of " Darkness at noon" and " 1984" Which Trump wishes to make into a mandatory celebration of lying for its own sake. Much as the rotten Juche pseudo philosophy imprisoned 50 years of existence in North Korea. Also we should note that in the novel "1984 " by George Orwell the pseudo language called "newspeak".went through continuous refinements as to eliminate in practical vocabulary consideration of non " Big Brother " concepts We see this development in full flower in both Russia and in Milwaukee style propaganda garbage peddled daily. in particular Trump and the Kremlin wish to make independence of thought not only totally criminalized but likely biologically impossible. This is the real aim of Putin and Trump and the abortion called Project 2025 . To be forewarned is to be forearmed! Fight back! Now! Meanwhile the web spinners in the Kremlin backing Trump tyranny wish to force tens of millions of Americans into the self abuse and hideous degrading kowtowing so immortalized by Koestler in " Darkness at Noon " on a nation wide scale by Project 2025. Will you stand for it?

We take so many things for granted. It's easy to forget in your day-to-day life. We live in-between the morning cups of coffee, the afternoon work, or our evening routines. In some ways, those individuals that gave it all, would have it just that way... FREE Free to live our lives in peace, Free to live in the pursuit of happiness, Free to build and grow and live in what is the most prosperous nation in the world. But we must never forget the cost of liberty and what it takes to get here. Today is June 6, and today we remember D-DAY. Today we remember all those individuals that served and made the ultimate sacrifice so that future generations in the United States and abroad could have a brighter future. Today we remember #freedomisntfree #dday #veterans
Today marks the 80th anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1944. On that day, around 160,000 American and Allied troops carried out the largest combined land, air, and sea invasion in military history. By the end of the Normandy landings, approximately 10,000 soldiers had been killed, wounded, or were missing, including 6,603 Americans, 2,700 British, and 946 Canadians. These valiant men served as liberators, fighting to uphold the sacred principles of democracy and freedom. Their courage and sacrifice on the beaches of Normandy paved the way for the ultimate victory in Europe, ending the scourge of Nazi tyranny. With each passing year, the ranks of World War II veterans grow thinner, yet their spirit lives on. Today, we solemnly remember and honor all those individuals of exceptional valor and courage who served and made the ultimate sacrifice so that we may enjoy the liberties we cherish today. Their legacy serves as a reminder of the high price of freedom and the unwavering commitment required to preserve it. We owe an immense debt to these heroes, whose selfless actions secured a brighter future for generations to come. #veterans #dday #supportourtroops #landofthefree #neverforget
