Canada's Start-Up Visa program has increased the likelihood of US-based immigrants to launch a startup in Canada by 69%. The program is designed to spur entrepreneurship and economic growth in Canada by providing visas to skilled entrepreneurs. Why is it important? In the US, immigrants have started more than half (55%) of America’s startup companies valued at $1 billion or more. Almost 80% of America’s unicorn companies have an immigrant founder or an immigrant in a key leadership role, such as CEO or vice president of engineering. Immigrants have founded or cofounded nearly two-thirds (65%) of the top AI companies in the United States, and 70% of full-time graduate students in fields related to artificial intelligence are international students. CI Ventures provides extensive support for applicants to Canada's Startup Visa (SUV) program through tailored mentorship, facilitating investment capital, and partnerships with angel designated organization and industry partners. Aizada Marat had a nightmare immigration experience that led her to create Alma, an #AI-powered legal tech #startup. When she moved to California in 2018 with her husband, KODIF co-founder and CEO Chyngyz Dzhumanazarov, she encountered severe immigration issues. Despite being a Harvard-educated #attorney, she received bad advice from a #lawyer, leaving her unable to work for over a year. Marat's ordeal exposed flaws in the fragmented immigration #legal system, where 90% of the #market is shared among over 20,000 #law firms. Determined to fix this, she left her job at Cooley and later McKinsey to #develop software aimed at improving immigration services. After initially selling the #software to law firms, she and her team decided to provide direct immigration #services. In October 2023, Alma was launched with co-founders, including former Uber #engineering manager Shuo Chen and former Step product manager Assel Tuleubayeva. Alma aims to simplify the visa process for technologists, #founders, and researchers by providing personal legal #advisors, speeding up document processing, and digitally organizing the #process. The #company differentiates itself by leveraging proprietary #technology and employing its own immigration attorney. With $5.1 million in seed #funding from #investors like Bling Capital, Forerunner, and Village Global, Alma is set to revolutionize immigration services, ensuring high-quality #support and empowering immigrants worldwide. #Startups #Entrepreneurship #Innovation #DigitalMarketing #TechTrends #AI #VentureCapital #Ecommerce #Leadership #BusinessGrowth Discover more about this innovative startup at www.thefounders.blog If you spot any inaccuracies, please let us know so we can correct them. The Canada Startup Visa Program is a gateway to a thriving business ecosystem. But, success hinges on more than ambition - We emphasize the importance of personal involvement and active engagement in the business development process. Common problems? - Artificial group ventures and misrepresentation. Creating group ventures solely for the purpose of immigration can be interpreted as misrepresentation. Immigration officers meticulously scrutinize the authenticity of group ventures and may reject applications if there are suspicions of manipulating the system. At #HarveyLawGroup, we understand the challenges and risks associated with the Canada Startup Visa program, and we are dedicated to helping entrepreneurs safeguard their startup visa journey.
