But the point there is Superbowl is the biggest stage where companies release their best commercials every year. Many of the best ad commercials comes from here. But Kanye West has different plans. When Smokeball Australia asked us to refresh their brand, we took an unusual path – starting with an illustration as our inspiration. It wasn't the typical approach, but we accepted the challenge and went for it. One key lesson we learned was the importance of finding the right partner who understands your vision. We worked hard with an illustration studio overseas, dealing with an 8-hour time difference that created its own difficulties. The process took months, with countless rounds of changes, as we carefully crafted the key illustrations that captured Smokeball's vibe. It was a labor of love, driven by unwavering commitment and a shared vision. Despite the obstacles, the end result was worth all the effort. The refreshed brand embodies Smokeball's spirit, seamlessly blending creativity and functionality, hopefully leaving a lasting impression on the industry. This project reinforced our belief that sometimes, taking the unconventional path can lead to extraordinary results. There are too many recent brands that come, make it big, and then go. A brand that spots a market, a mid term trend, only to go along with the trend. Why is this? What makes a 100 year brand? Here are three SIMPLE ideas for you and your team to execute on if this is you… 1. Hit up all your cities “Run clubs” and sponsor runs, send product and show face and actually participate! Be AUTHENTIC WITH IT 2. Run a giveaway! Participants must tag the brand in stories and posts as they log their runs on one of these awesome apps (Strava, Runna, Nike Run, Under Armour etc). Have them run to a retail store that your product is in and tag both retail and brand! Each participant gets product, merch or discounts on more purchases with the brand. 3. Create around a run line or your products that benefit runners. Apparel, merch, hydration products, etc. 4. BONUS! Start your own run club with your I internal teams and make this fun! Cultivate culture inside and it’ll shine outwardly

As I discussed earlier this week with fellow #running geek and strategist Sam Millen-Cramer, the running community and all of its sub-communities have so much untapped potential for mainstream and niche brands. Yet, I feel like brands are still struggling with the right pitch for runners. When it comes to clothing, runners crave the perfect combination between #form and #function, wanting stylish options that fit but also can stand up to the test of performance. We’re easily drawn to brand storytelling that “gets” running culture. But it has to have the right tone, unlike Tracksmith’s BQ PR disaster ladt year (IYKYK). ❗️Selling to micro-communities, like any niche audience, requires a grassroots approach grounded in cultural strategy. Represent: Their lines consist of Team 247, Represent owners club. These make you want to be apart of it. The whole brand identity is not just clothing, it’s a lifestyle and community. Puresport: Sell great supplements but the community aspect comes a lot from their weekly run clubs hosted all over the world, everyone has the bright coloured socks everyone is there for the same thing. It allows you to meet like minded individuals whilst promotion good health and exercise. Again being a part of the “Puresport Run Club”. GoPro: For years allowing us to capture our craziest moments on camera, from sports to playing with your dog and even filming family events. GoPro also lets us as consumers get involved with content competitions, they also regularly interact with their audience on social media. Red Bull: Has done crazy YouTube stunts for years, blowing our minds at the possibilities and the creativity of these stunts. Not only that Redbull for years have hosted events that you can attend but they’re not like other events, you feel excited you’re surrounded by everything Redbull so you feel immersed within even if you’re not doing double backflips off cliffs. These brands have consistently stayed true to their missions, making us feel like part of a larger team. On PKL, clients are coming back season after season, and a prime example is Roff. Why is it working for them? We’ve observed a significant uplift in Roff's brand metrics among PKL viewers compared to other channel viewers, with consideration and purchase intent at 2x higher. Notably, only 7% of the GRPs came from PKL, yet the brand awareness scores are comparable to those from 93% of GRPs from other channels. Triangulating this data shows that PKL has a 10x higher impact. Additionally, the naming rights for 'Super Tackle' align perfectly with what the brand represents.
