In early 2024, New York City FC chose 10 high potential employees to be part of the inaugural Future Leaders Program.
Over the course of the year, they will be provided with developmental tools, opportunities, and resources to prepare them for higher levels of responsibility within the Club.
In May, they traveled to Manchester City Football Club for an experiential learning opportunity, meeting with their counterparts to exchange best practices between Manchester and New York City.
What was your initial response when you found out you were going to be part of New York City FC's first cohort of the Future Leaders program was a huge honor. I think it's always exciting when you know the organization that you're part of recognizes you see something new potential that they'd like to draw out and, you know, offer you skills, build you up. It's exciting because sometimes you have to remind yourself that. They really are that person, right, that you really work hard and sometimes you want to keep your head down and just come in and do what you gotta do. But it's nice when you're recognized from those people, from, you know, your leadership team and you're like, wow, I really am doing what I'm supposed to be doing here. And to know that they want you to continue to thrive with the organization. Just being on this lake campus and stuff. It's my first time too. And I was like, just like the vibe here is so like, as the kids would say, the vibes are Immaculate. Like it was. It's just been so amazing to be here and I hope like we can kind of build a culture that they have here. Like over in New York, everybody talks about it this like bigger than greater than like the Manchester City, the great city football group, the campus right? Umm, my first time. But as soon as I walked on here, it's like, yeah, like we belong here. Like this is for us. It just makes us this program even more exciting. So yesterday we were at the AT ad with the beautiful. Backdrop of of the seats and the stadium itself. We were there for City Football Leadership Institute Institute and we were able to speak with leaders not only within City Football but also around the UK in sports. But it was interesting to see people outside of the organization also kind of buy into kind of this larger group and this larger idea that City Football has of just using the power of sport to grow in different facets. I think as I continue to be a part of this program, I was able to like really think about my goals a little bit more strategically and be able to kind of, like you said, right shift my mindset, especially after hearing some of the speakers we've heard this week and really be inspired of like, OK, what can I contribute? How much can I contribute? How can I tackle certain things? You know, your mindset is important. How do I kind of really shift that as well So I have a career in. My favorite part was definitely here and from leadership, having the experience of sharing, you know, goals for yourself with rule has been really great. I don't think, like you said, not many people get that, get that opportunity's favorite part of the trip would be seeing familiar faces, talking to people, walking around the campus, visualizing, you know, what ours could potentially look like. And the outings are cool going out at night. I think all the outings were great, the dinners. We went to Flight Club last night. We played darts. That was a fun outing. Just kind of hanging out with the with the group not on a work level. That was also really fun getting to like know and bond with everybody. We already kind of knew each other relatively. While I feel like by being on this crazy ride of like 3 days that feels like 3 weeks in the best in the best way was just really, really fun, really awesome. I always talk about how we're in such a unique. Opportunity as a club, right where we can shape and mold it to what we want to be. So having this experience is definitely gonna help us do that. Like we are helping build something like this in New York City, like which is home for me. So I see the vision. I've always been bought in, but being on this trip and seeing it in person, connecting with everybody has just been like, so inspiring, so humbling also. But I'm also pumped to get back home and like, ohh, yeah, let's do this, you know?
Such a great program! Inspirational level of support and cross-pollinating. Can’t wait to see if the Manchester FC folks come over once the NYCFC stadium and program support buildings are wrapped up!

It was an honor to take my son to support his grandpa at the Lott Trophy Awards Dinner. It was awesome to meet all the finalist and learn more about their greatness both on and off the gridiron.
What makes the award so special is the focus on celebrating the success of the best college defensive players have achieved on the field as well as off. The four core values of the award are Stewardship, character, integrity, and excellence.
These values are not just key to being successful in sports but are indispensable for a thriving business.
Stewardship involves responsible resource management and contributing to the well-being of society, which is increasingly vital in today's complex ownership structures
Character and integrity are the cornerstones of trust and ethical leadership, essential for fostering a positive work culture and long-term success
Furthermore, excellence, coupled with fairness and customer service, is a hallmark of a successful business, contributing to its reputation and impact on the community
By prioritizing these values, businesses can build trust, enhance their reputation, and ultimately achieve sustained success.

Earlier this month, I celebrated my graduation from the NCAJ NEXT Leadership program at NCAJ’s annual convention.
Thank you North Carolina Advocates for Justice for a great program designed to develop the next generation of trial attorneys in the state of North Carolina. So grateful for this opportunity!
It has been beyond a learning curve and humbling opportunity to be a part of National Council for the academic year of 2023-24. As we get closer to Pi Sigma Epsilon's annual National Conference, we are preparing to develop the 2024-25 National Council.
Being the Collegiate Vice President this year taught me 3 things:
1. How does a non-profit organization operate as a business?
2. How do we ensure that all stakeholders are benefiting? How do we make difficult decisions?
3. How do we make strategic goals, planning, and indicate what is in-scope and out-of-scope?
Some of the efforts that I got to work on and continuing to work on are:
- The launch of PSE Academy with Chris Wooten and Carolyn Mang
- Creating DEIB initiatives through in-person programming and online resources with Robert C. Webb, M.S., Ron Poff (He/Him), and Jordan Harrison
- Utilizing surveys to gain a better understand of collegiate leadership
- Having the opportunity to connect more with all of collegiate and members of PSE.
Thank you for letting me serve you in 2023-24. If you are interested in applying for the CVP role for 2024-25, apply here or direct message me! Pi Down!
