CDC launches effort to lower sepsis rates in US hospitals. The CDC launched a new initiative called Hospital Sepsis Program Core Elements (HSPCE) to help hospitals better manage and lower the rates of sepsis, which affects about 1.7 million adults annually. The agency urged hospitals to create a strong sepsis program and improve sepsis care by adopting seven core elements, which include implementing new processes to enhance sepsis identification and management, dedicating necessary resources to combat sepsis, tracking the progress of sepsis programs and offering sepsis education to health care professionals. #rafaelgonzalezesq #cattiegonzalezpllc #ahigherstandardinmspcompliance #medicaremedicaidupdates

Time is crucial in trauma cases, and providing blood transfusions on the way to the hospital can be the difference between life and death. Here's why pre-hospital blood initiatives are so important: 1️. Every minute counts: Studies show up to a 5% increase in mortality for every minute of delay in accessing blood after trauma. 2. Improved survival rates: Blood transfusions initiated before hospital arrival significantly improve outcomes for trauma patients. 3. Essential for emergencies: Hemorrhage is the leading preventable cause of death post-injury, emphasizing the importance of immediate access to blood products. That’s why we are calling on Congress to establish a demonstration program to examine the use of pre-hospital blood for traumatic injury patients. Today is #worldsepsisday and last year sepsis nearly took my then 7 month old baby's life. It really is no joke. If it wasn't for quick thinking Drs in Switzerland, the air ambulance and the best medical care afforded to us, maybe our story would be a different one. A postcode lottery ensured my daughter kept her life after 3 weeks in cardiac ICU, a scenario not afforded to many people across the world. The Sepsis Story of UK MP Craig Mackinlay Initiatives like the Surviving Sepsis Campaign, which emphasize early diagnosis and treatment, have significantly reduced mortality rates among sepsis patients. Despite all advances, sepsis continues to be the leading cause of death and disability, contributing to 53% of hospitalizations that result in death or discharge to hospice. Additionally, post-sepsis mortality and rehospitalization rates remain unacceptably high, with 65% of survivors experiencing readmission or death within 12 months.
