Looking down on people because of gender, race, religion, socio economic status, etc comes back later to haunt us because we ourselves would never see the good we do and even if we do, it would never be enough. Treat all men with dignity. Happy New Week! I closed my journey at Authentic Campaigns last week, but I'd be remiss if I moved on without celebrating my time there and shouting them out for being a great place to work. I learned at Authentic that political ads aren't just spammy "give me money" asks that everyone wants to opt out of. They're an opportunity to show who a candidate is and why they deserve support. Earnest and authentic ads do very well, but so do funny ones! Some things I'm proud of doing, in no particular order: - Writing and setting up rapid response ads after attacks from Trump, endorsements from the RNC, and other major news stories. - Working on causes like Gaza humanitarian aid, climate change awareness, AAPI visibility, and voter registration. - Working on persuasion and get out to vote ads! - Making memes into successful fundraising ads. (Yes, really.) - Sending very cute texts from the POV of candidates' pets at every opportunity! - Writing cute little poems with a fundraising ask. Authentic allowed me to work on a wide variety of projects that have made me a better professional. They also put me in touch with a phenomenal group of people. I'm so happy that a company like them exists. Campaign work should not always be 60+ hour weeks and getting laid off after an election. Workers should have work-life balance, unions, and great benefits. No employer is ever perfect, but I loved being a union representative and learning about the labor movement during my time at Authentic. So, bye bye Authentic, but thanks for everything. 💙

Managing Director at FILTERMANIA LIMITED. Quality branded Filters, Oils & Batteries for a vast range of applications!
I constantly get a number of connections requesting that I follow their company, as someone who values meaningful connections, I believe in fostering a two-way relationship on social media. I am passionate about building a supportive community where we can mutually benefit from each other's experiences and perspectives. I would love to strengthen our connections further and support each other on social media in a reciprocal manner like liking, sharing and commenting on each others content, however I will not entertain supporting a company that has no intention of supporting us back by way of similar actions or becoming a valued customer of ours. #MeaningfulConnections #TwoWayRelationships #SupportiveCommunity #MutualBenefit #SocialMediaSupport #ReciprocalEngagement #BuildingConnections #ValueInConnections #AuthenticNetworking #MeaningfulEngagement #CommunityBuilding #SupportEachOther #NoEmptyFollows #MutualSupport #IntentionalConnections #ValueYourNetwork #ReciprocalRelationships #SocialMediaValues #MeaningfulNetworking #EngageWithPurpose #MeaningfulInteraction #SupportiveConnections

I have an alert set up on LinkedIn so I’m always notified of Community Manager roles in Gford - mainly so I can share with anyone I know who may be job hunting, partially because I’m nosy. Anyways, over the last year I have been astounded at the amount of companies who advertise for a community manager as a volunteer role. Unpaid, no experience necessary, just take control of the voice of the company and… ? Assuming there’s not a snr CM up the chain to learn from, this is a scary and frankly odd approach. Community management is the front line of your brand, it’s not an afterthought, it’s not an unpaid gig. If anyone, CMs should be the *most* engaged and dedicated member of your team - because they’re the ones out there, day in day out, spreading the good word and creating your brand advocates. Admittedly, these are predominantly roles outside of the games industry, but I’ve seen it in games too… and I know there have been some *spicy* conversations about marketing in games recently… but that’s a topic for another post 😅 this is purely about community management. TL:DR If you’re serious enough about Community Management to advertise for it, be serious enough about your business and customer engagement to pay for it. #CommunityManager #BestPractice

Community Manager for Devs | Experienced in Fostering Inclusive & Empathetic Online Spaces | FOSS Advocate
A few folks have asked me how I went about creating my Community Manager portfolio here: https://lnkd.in/g4MnRvjb, so I figured I'd share a little bit about it... For starters, I leaned heavily on a resource written by Erik Martin and posted on Commsor 🦕 called "How to Create a Standout Professional Portfolio for Community Managers" - https://lnkd.in/gWU33B8g. In particular, I used some of the Canva templates included in the article and customized them to make them my own. I highly recommend this resource to anybody who is looking to create a community-focused portfolio! 🙌 As for the things I included in my portfolio, I tried to sum up my recent experience as a Community Manager for Forem (creators of dev.to) and chose to highlight my work with moderators as that is something I'm particularly proud of. 😊 I also did my best to spice things up visually and inject some of my personality into the portfolio... I figure this is not meant to replace my resume, but rather to enhance it and tell more of my story. Notably, I don't think I've perfected my portfolio. I still want to add a section about my hobbies and share music I've created. I'd also like to include a link to what I'm calling my professional timeline - https://lnkd.in/gTz39rqn — this resource goes through my work experience chronologically, logging my different career changes, projects, and other notable details. So, do I think that everybody working in Community needs to have a portfolio? No, not necessarily! Honestly, the amount of job-searching materials we create is staggering... we have resumes, cover letters, LinkedIn profiles, social media accounts, personal websites, and more. It's overwhelming and a lot of it repeats itself! I created my portfolio because I was filling out a job app and saw an optional input box prompting me to share a portfolio. This sent me on the journey that I just described above. However, don't feel like you need to check this box. For me, it was a helpful exercise in figuring out the things that I've done as a Community Manager and how I'd like to tell my story to potential employers. Sure it gave me an additional resource to share with hiring, but also it helped me to wrap my head around my own experiences, values, and what I have to offer. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Likewise, if you've written your own portfolio, please share it below. 🙂

Think of community engagement like this… You can only expect the return of investment that you give to others. 🫡 So if you’re not engaging with other people’s content, you can’t expect it back. It’s a two way street! Community is one of your most powerful tools, making it the difference between sailing through your job and it opening up avenues for new opportunities, clients and more senior job roles. ✨ #CommunityEngagement #ReturnOfInvestment #SocialMedia #PersonalBranding #Engagement

Champion CoDesign| Elevate Lived Experience| Drive Social Impact through policy portfolios for values aligned organisations and professionals.
4000 new followers on LinkedIn and realised many here don’t know WHAT I can do. I am a consultant to senior leaders and the public sector. I help leaders and teams navigate complex, sensitive and high-profile projects. Together with a team of experts we specialise in social outcomes through policy and project design, delivery and evaluation. I work on systems reform, decolonising justice, Indigenous Cultural and Intellectual Property and champion Codesign and translating impact through storytelling and digital communications for clients like NSW Department of Communities and Justice, NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Transport for NSW, Aboriginal Languages Trust and Aboriginal Affairs NSW to name just a few. I founded Impact Policy AU in the middle of lockdown 2.0 in Sydney. It was a desire to deliver outcomes grounded in the core values of access equity inclusion and justice. These underpin our principles to how we approach everything. We are proud to have partnered with the public sector to navigate some of the most complex and sensitive of challenges we are wrestling with today, particularly in Aboriginal communities. Today, we have eight staff – 6 of us Blackfullas and all in leadership positions. We get to witness how our work IMPACTs POLICY almost every day. It is beyond anything we could have dreamed of when we started this journey. I host the Impact Policy podcast. Its a free audiovisual resources for policy, design and engagement practitioners passionate about social policy, lived experience, decolonising methods and codesign all while centring Aboriginal voices navigating those challenges and solutions together. At the moment, most people/teams are reaching out to me to do the following 🗺️ CoDesign services, support and training 🎯 Community Engagement (strategy and implementation) 🔊 Communications (strategy and assets) 📖 Research and Evaluation 🕺 Facilitation (workshops, interviews and panels) 🗣️ Speaking 💡 Workshops (CoDesign, Engagement, Acknowledgement of Country and bespoke project specific support). The sectors I am doing this work in the most and am most passionate about are justice, child protection, health, education, planning and design and Aboriginal Affairs. If you need to have a yarn about anything in these spaces please always reach out for, happy to add value wherever I can. But I would love to know, why did you press that follow button and what content do I share that you have enjoyed or has added the most value. It will help me dial in on where to focus on here for you moving forward. And if you haven't yet hit that FOLLOW button, come with us on a journey as we see where the next stages take us on the road to access, equity, inclusion and justice.
