[Sports Fan Experience - Part 1]
As designers and builders of some of the most notable live events and brand experiences - for sports and for brands - we at Sparks are often asked to create an extended version of the event experience for the audience that cannot attend in person.
Today's best live event experiences offer your audience many ways to attend - and in the post-pandemic era, this is the norm.
I use the sports fan analogy...
- some fans like to attend their favorite sports team game in person and be in the arena...
- other fans like to watch the game on TV from their couch in the comfort of their home...
- others want to watch it at their favorite neighborhood bar with friends...
...Experiential events, in the same way, should appeal to each attendee no matter how they are "attending."
And now, Cosm is launching a whole new level, shared reality. And I like it💥
Imagine being in California but enjoying the National Basketball Association (NBA) Miami Heat game and sitting "courtside" in Miami, but you’re actually in Cali in a shared reality experience.
It is a bit different than your neighborhood corner bar TV, isn't it? It also offers the best seat in the arena (check out that teaser video below).
Larger events, concerts, festivals, and corporate brand experiences will soon be doing the same - putting people into the event's action via shared reality experiences.
And with the excitement and buzz of the Las Vegas Sphere, Sphere Entertainment Co. - most notably the U2 concert, which combines live, shared, and immersive experiences - using LED as the tool for experiencing what you want, where you want, and how you want. It's getting easier, more thrilling, and making events better.
And people want to share these new experiences they are having in the moment on their social media channels.
As a developer, marketer, and part of a creative agency for some of the most notable brand events and sports experiences, this opens the door to new possibilities and interesting opportunities to engage a broader audience.

Cosm has inked a deal with ESPN to air games in shared reality.
The sports include:
🏀 National Basketball Association (NBA)
🏒 National Hockey League (NHL)
🎾 U.S. Open tennis
🏈 College football
🏀 College basketball
⚾ College baseball/softball
🥊 Select UFC fights
This is the latest in a series of deals Cosm has secured in the past 13 months.
