PoolePRoof Wisdom We're back and talking about the importance of protecting our mental health as May arrives next week. If you don't know, May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and provides a formal way for everyone to consider, think about, and address issues around mental health, especially prioritizing the well-being of individuals and families affected by mental illness. A new podcast episode arrives on May 1, therefore, and my guest, Saroni Kundu, is a mental health advocate who has literally invested in providing important access to mental health services, and whose experience with facing mental health challenges in her own family is one that she's learned from and is sharing in hopes they can learn, too. Today and leading up to May 1, we'll provide a few segments from the full episode, highlighting the personal nature of the discussion and facts about mental health everyone should know. Today is a big topic: stigma.

March is Mental Health Awareness Month. On a personal and professional level, this topic is important! Yesterday I shared where my mental health journey began, with the death of a friend. So grateful to people who reached out to check on me. I wanted to clarify my intentions in sharing: create dialogue, awareness, community, and safety. (Inspired by Amelia and her work at Nivati). Throughout May expect more from me. More quotes, studies, stories, and topics around mental health. Feel free to share in the comments some of your favorite books, podcasts, or tools you have utilized in your journies. #mentalhealthawarenessmonth

In the current mental health crisis, we're seeing a concerning trend: difficulty processing trauma. 😔 Instead, we seek solace in distractions like social media, work, and consumption. 📱💼🛍️ Elders turn to alcohol, youth immerse in social media, risking harm to developing brains. 🍺👵🏽🧑🏽🦱 The impact remains unclear, but it's evident these habits don't aid trauma processing. ❌ As a society, we must recognize this and pursue healthier coping mechanisms. 🌱 Unprocessed trauma will catch up with us. ⏳ Repost this video if you believe in the importance of addressing and processing trauma for better mental health.
