As we approach Mother's Day on Sunday, remember that being a mother is not always plain sailing. I address this and more on the Giving Voice to Depression podcast—Part 2 with Therese-Marie (Terry) McGuire, CPS. During this podcast, I talk about my initial battle with identifying the signs of postpartum depression, the stigma that made me reluctant to seek help, and what societal expectations had on my journey through motherhood. I also speak about how important it is to communicate early, find support, and manage postpartum depression through therapy & self-expression. 🔊 Listen here: https://lnkd.in/gTfmMckj #PPD #PostpartumDepression #MentalHealthAwareness #MotherhoodJourney #SupportIsKey #MothersDay #EndTheStigma #PodcastEpisode #GivingVoiceToDepression #MentalHealthSupports #ListentoThis #MomLife #HealthandWellness #MentalHealthAdvocate

Counseling Psychologist | Writer | Podcaster | Therapist for Therapists. Transforming "neurotic misery into ordinary unhappiness" since 2019.
Therapists on the timeline, let's talk money! I don't know who convinced the world - therapists included- that mental health service providers should work for free to prove that they care about their clients. I am here to shake that table by insisting that healthcare service providers -therapists included- should be adequately and timely compensated for the lifesaving services they provide. This segment was part of the conversation around setting boundaries with clients in therapy. You can listen to the episode on the podcast: (https://lnkd.in/dEvsauXW) Or Watch the full video on my YouTube Channel (youtu.be/KykPQDQP8Vw) What are your thoughts about this issue?

🎧 NEW EPISODE OUT NOW 🎧 Loss 48 of 101 (we're heading for halfway!): Loss through #anorexia & #orthorexia https://lnkd.in/gb8M73SW When it comes to eating disorders and losses, you might find you immediately think of ‘loss of weight’, but there’s so much more that can be lost through disorders linked to food and eating. Meet the lovely Julia Trehane from England. She's an Eating Disorder Recovery Coach and podcaster, and lived with Anorexia Nervosa for 40 years. Julia has learned first-hand about the dangers of living with an eating disorder and tells us why it was so powerful in her life for so long. This is a very honest conversation about a very serious condition. My hope is that it will not only help us all understand conditions like this more (and the losses involved), but also offer hope for those still in the grip of an eating disorder, because Julia has found her way to recovery - "I have complete food freedom, I don’t struggle with any eating disorder thoughts any more, I am fully recovered as far as I’m concerned." And I personally, I didn't even know this was possible, so it was a very encouraging conversation. 🙂 Amazingly Julia also told us she actually used to make Hermans (the original Herman that inspires our final question in every loss episode)! For more about those, if you don't know what they are, visit https://lnkd.in/eqz-tMdr.
