One of my favorite things to do for any event is to find ways to incorporate giving back to the community. Swag? I hate it. It all gets thrown away. Let me donate what we would have spent on swag instead or give away something that benefits a non-profit in the area. When I came across this opportunity, I knew I had to find a way to make it a connection. I met Abundant Harvest Kitchen and Bistro earlier this year when Junior League of The Woodlands, Inc. awarded them a grant to support their fantastic mission of feeding our community with their food pantry. Fast forward to a few months ago, and I had the honor of attending their annual Gala and heard more about their mission to “feed the body, nourish the soul, and transform the community." One way they do this is through their bistro, where you pay what you can afford. No one leaves hungry, regardless of your financial situation. The food is top notch and I was thrilled to learn they also cater events! When I was tapped to help plan the Medical Edge Recruitment Holiday Party, there were a lot of details up in the air, but I knew incorporating Abundant Harvest into those plans was a non-negotiable. Our event planner was also blown away by Abundant Harvest's mission, hearts, and food quality. (Y'all - it is TOP NOTCH). She was so excited to tell me how much future business she plans on throwing their way. Sometimes, it's easy to get caught up on too much need, too many people, and too few resources. But it's the small things. We all have influence - maybe it's just being intentional in who you select for vendors or what you bring to the next trade show - but that one decision can have ripple effects. Don't lose sight of the power of those small, intentional choices. Before you know it, you'll have a movement on your hands, and won't it be beautiful? #holidayseason #giveback #communityimpact #eventplanning

In today’s business world, companies need to do more than just stand out. They must be seen as good citizens which invest back into the communities that support them. But it can be challenging getting the public to notice the good work you do. Dreambuilders helps its partners maximize public relations value of community programs by aligning them with well-known athletes who have a similar passion for charity work. The contribution to Dreambuilders, a 501c3 non-profit, pays for the entire project and the P.R. event to dedicate it. Dreambuilders will organize an event with the athlete and kids benefitting from the project to highlight the partnership. The event will be promoted to the local media, and the athlete will speak to his partnership with the corporate partner in making it happen. Check prentations, ribbon cuttings and volunteer opportunities for employees can also be included if desired. Dreambuilders has a 10-year track record of executing successful partnerships that garner extensive media coverage for partners like UnitedHealthcare, JCPenney, Albertsons and Cargill. Let us work for your company to breathe new life into the good work you do for others. Helping passionate nonprofit leaders build relationships with donors who share their vision. Doing the right things well, consistently.
Not every interaction is an ask and not every ask should be THE ASK. How about an invitation? Today, I had the privilege of engaging in a great conversation with board members of an incredible #nonprofit. A highlight was one member's passionate insight about the transformative experience of attending their programs. It was a good reminder that showcasing your program is key to inspiring engagement. He used a factory analogy to emphasize this point. To truly understand and appreciate the value of what we offer, people need to "visit the factory," not just "see the product on a shelf" (or in our case, a brochure). In the world of fundraising, it's crucial to remember that not every interaction is about making an ask - or at least, it shouldn't be. There are moments when the timing for THE ASK isn't right. Rather, the focus should be on building meaningful relationships by inviting potential supporters to experience our programs firsthand. If a picture is worth a thousand words, then an evening spent at one of your events could be worth a million... words, that is. 😉 Keep opening doors to these invaluable experiences and watch genuine connection and engagement unfold!
