This essay is probably going to get me shadow banned on Medium... Look, I write about the future and the future, at least in the near-term, isn't going to be pretty. I look at the future as it applies to money and work, but not just that. I look at how it applies to everything. This includes the future of democracy and the grand experiment that is America. The upcoming election is a very big deal yet an increasing number of us don't want to participate in it, yours truly included. As the events that transpired over the weekend show, the state of American politics is becoming increasingly violent. The more we isolate ourselves and refuse to hear opinions that are different from our own, the more chaotic things are going to become. In today's essay, I talk about how the use of one word -- or the lack thereof -- represents just how polarizing our politics has become. Politics isn't about your team winning and someone else's team losing. It's about our ability to equitably participate in a process that gives voice to our values, no matter how much we disagree. There's a political leadership vacuum in the United States right now. The outcome of this year's election isn't going to change it.
