To help avoid this, by aligning US standards with European regulations, specifically GACP and EU GMP certifications, is crucial for ensuring quality and patient safety. These stringent standards provide comprehensive quality control, processes and procedures to minimise contamination risks, and ensure product consistency. By adopting GACP and EU GMP, along with stricter testing regimes, you can enhance patient/consumer safety, facilitate smoother regulatory approvals, and build greater consumer trust. Haffner International Ltd can help you mitigate the risks and navigate this transition smoothly, ensuring compliance and excellence in your operations. People want to blame regulators for the regulations that allowed high levels of pesticides on cannabis products being sold to consumers. In reality the vast majority of these regulations were written by lobbyists, not the regulators. It’s a perfect example of corporate capture of the regulations that govern an industry. In my opinion corporate capture of regulations is why we are the wealthiest country on the planet and at the same time the most unhealthy.

ANOTHER cannabis testing lab bites the dust... WeedWeek breaks another story relating to CA pesticide scandal. This time, California Cannabis Testing Labs (CCTL) has been shut down by the DCC with immediate effect. "Some of the allegations date back to a February 2022 site visit, when lab staff acknowledged falsified records, disregard for company procedures and other breaches." - WeedWeek. NOT a good look at all right now. Cannabis industry: — How bad do you think the lab problem is? — How do we start rebuilding consumer trust? — What can brands, retailers, manufacturers and growers do to ensure that our products aren't harmful to the consumer?? I'd love to hear what you all think and how WE, as an industry, can collectively bounce back from these scandals.

The #cannabis industry is facing scrutiny over high levels of pesticides and contaminants in products, raising concerns about inhaling toxic chemicals. While consumers are becoming more aware and cautious, the source of these pesticides isn't always 100% clear. Some growers knowingly use pesticides, while others face challenges with failed tests despite following organic practices. It's essential to evaluate every aspect of the supply chain, from equipment to packaging, (jars, scissors, #gloves) to ensure transparency and cleanliness. It's hard to do the preventative work, but harder to deal with a costly #recall #transparency #supplychain #productquality

Kentucky gives initial OK to emergency rule for intoxicating hemp products! A key legislative subcommittee in Kentucky #approved an emergency rule designed to #regulate intoxicating #hemp-derived products differently than nonintoxicating products. It’s the third time the #regulations have been amended, according to news website Kentucky Today, and the emergency rule will remain in effect until April 27, 2024. Katelyn Wiard of the U.S. Hemp Roundtable said during testimony that there are still some issues with the amended emergency rule, including the fact products classified for “adults” must contain a lower amount of THC than a 25-1 #CBD-to-THC ratio. Wiard also said the rule’s $200-per-product fee will also be tough on hemp cultivators, Kentucky Today reported. https://lnkd.in/gpMNFEdQ

An investigation in The Los Angeles Times has found “alarming levels of pesticides” in legal cannabis products sold across California.⚠ > 25 out of 42 products bought from retail stores and tested at private labs contained pesticides either above permitted state levels or in excess of federal standards for tobacco. > Some items contained as many as two dozen pesticides, and five popular vape brands had loads that exceeded EPA risk thresholds for harm from a single exposure. > The Times also criticised state regulators, who it says are now “scrambling” to introduce more testing and “compliance actions” against pesticide contamination. 🔬 LGC Standards’ market-leading range of cannabis-related #ReferenceMaterials includes more than 550 ISO 17034-accredited products, over 300 of them designed to test for pesticides.
