Last summer, my husband sent me a job description for an internal comms role on the HR team at Mindbody. I remember telling the recruiter, "Thank you for taking a chance on me." My resume had a gap from raising my son, I had never worked in HR before, and I had never focused solely on internal comms before. I definitely wasn't who "the algorithm" would have chosen to call back. Despite that, I KNEW this job was right for me. I felt it in my bones - I CAN CRUSH THIS. And thankfully, Mindbody thought so too. I tell new team members all the time, "this was the dream job I didn't know I was looking for." I love working every day with unbelievable people to make our team members' work lives the best they can be. To help them perform at their best and feel the satisfaction and pride that comes from purpose. (And to leave calling reporters to those I know are MUCH better suited to it. 😉) I really appreciate this award because it's a validation of that perfect fit that I feel every day. But mostly, I appreciate Mindbody taking that chance one year ago. I spent yesterday afternoon and evening with our Racepoint Global Beacons, a group of folks recognized by their peers as stewards of RPG’s core values (authenticity, belonging, compassion), and behaviors (curiosity, service, growth mindset).   Beacons are voted in and serve a one-year term to act as advisors to leadership. We gather with intention, and they share feedback about how we're doing and where they see room for an improved employee (and client) experience.   It's a revealing exercise. What *I* think is clear doesn't always translate. The Beacons' feedback helps refine our approach--both to *building* our culture and the way we *talk* about it. We're communications people. We know that the words we use matter.   This kind of cross-functional and intergenerational upward feedback is incredibly valuable. I’m grateful for the energy and spirit these folks bring to it. How well do you see and celebrate progress and success? The second in my "Year in Review from Our Client's POV" focuses on being a good noticer. Noticing potential. Noticing people. Noticing progress. And taking the time to call it out, celebrate the win, and champion the person or people who have contributed to the performance and made a noticeable difference (see what I did there:)) When we are intentional about naming the progress and championing the people we build into the culture of our team a sense of celebration and success - this generates the environment of directly and indirectly helping US ALL get better. I've said for years "If you see it in them, say it to them" - Your teammates love knowing what they did that made them more effective and the team better. Way better. #differencemakers

Celebrating small Wins In a world that often emphasizes great achievements and monumental milestones, it is easy to overlook the significance of the small victories that pepper our daily lives. A few years ago, I found myself caught up in the whirlwind of ambitious goals and major milestones, inadvertently neglecting the small wins that unfolded along the way. During one of my periods of reflection, I decided to shift my focus and adopt a mindset of gratitude for the seemingly insignificant victories. I began acknowledging and celebrating the small wins, whether it was successfully completing a challenging task or overcoming a minor setback. Little did I know that this shift in perspective would bring about significant changes in both my professional and personal life. The first and most immediate change was in my mindset. Instead of fixating solely on long-term goals, I learned to appreciate the journey and the progress made along the way. Cherishing small wins also had a ripple effect on my motivation. The joy and satisfaction derived from celebrating minor achievements fueled my enthusiasm to tackle more significant challenges. Moreover, I observed a positive impact on team dynamics. As a leader, acknowledging and celebrating the small wins of my team members fostered a culture of positivity and collaboration. In my personal life, cherishing small wins brought about a profound sense of gratitude. I started appreciating the simple moments of personal growth and the beauty in everyday experiences. Life became a series of small victories with each contributing to a richer and more meaningful experience. Here are two practical ways that each of us can celebrate our small wins. 1. Personal Reflection and Acknowledgment→Take a few moments at the end of your day or week to reflect on your achievements, no matter how small they may seem. Consider keeping a journal or using a digital platform to document these wins. 2. Share and Celebrate with Your Network→Cultivate a culture of mutual support and celebration within your professional network or team. Don't hesitate to share your small wins with colleagues, friends, or mentors. On this note, I invite all my connections to join me in celebrating our small wins. Our team is our greatest separator because we are only as good as our team. While working as teams, we possess limitless possibilities, and we can do things that are far greater than each member of the team.
