GCIC is excited to present to you a series of testimonies from our female entrepreneurs highlighting the practical impact of our Women Entrepreneurs Transformation Program (WETP) on themselves and on their businesses. GCIC is a unique business incubator in that, it has a specific and directed program for women entrepreneurs in the green economy. Whilst GCIC supports both male and female entrepreneurs within its incubator with business advisory services, capacity building and financial grants to operate their climate smart businesses, our Women Entrepreneurs Transformation Program (WETP) has been designed to respond to the need for gender-sensitive business advisory services, and to amplify the voice and agency of women in the business sector. We seek to ensure that male and female led climate-smart SMEs within our business incubator can actively, fairly and equitably participate in business. One of the key impacts that the program seeks is to support women to lead from the inside out, so that they are empowered to lead their businesses purposefully, authentically, and consciously, and ultimately have an impact on the transformation of Ghana’s economy, and especially the green economy. Ultimately, WETP does the following: 1. Creates a supportive ecosystem for women in leadership positions 2. Shifts limiting mindsets and consciousness of female entrepreneurs 3. Helps women entrepreneurs overcome the challenges they face in running their businesses and in their daily lives. 4. Empowers women to lead The WETP series starts on Monday, 19th February 2024. Watch this space for updates. #WomenEntrepreneurs #SustainableGrowth #GCIC #WETP #GreenEconomy #Empowerment #LeadershipDevelopment #InclusiveBusiness

Having structures, processes, and automation in your business is crucial for efficiency, consistency, and scalability. They help streamline operations, reduce errors, and free up time for strategic tasks. Proper organization ensures that everyone knows their roles and responsibilities, while automation can handle repetitive tasks, allowing your team to focus on higher-value activities. I share your point of view 100% , particularly at an IP Policy that is holistic ; touching the entire ecosystem from the creator to exploiter. Only via a comprehensive IP Policy can we have a resilient and sustainable market in Nigeria and can also give women adequate participation with equitable renumeration across the entire value chain

This year's edition is being organized in collaboration with Women In Management, Business & Public Service Last year's maiden edition explored barriers and focused on the strategies and policies which could further support the unleashing of female-led innovation and creativity in Nigeria. Drawing from inspiring examples of female innovators, creatives and entrepreneurs, the audience engaged in policy dialogue and frank exchange with the objective of stimulating change and advancing opportunities for female entrepreneurs. I agree wholeheartedly. The point about #IP needing to be integrated in our educational system is important considering the growing #tech industry and the role #IP plays in that growth. A webinar on space tech that I recently attended highlighted that the value of the space industry is expected to reach $1.8 trillion by 2035. This growth will rely heavily on strong #IP protection, particularly #patents, as well as artificial intelligence across various sectors of the space industry - from upstream activities like launch vehicles to downstream sectors such as satellite data, and even within the in-space economy including manufacturing. While some might argue that getting involved in the space industry should not be a priority for Nigeria, the immense financial potential the industry holds cannot be overlooked. Updating our #IP laws is crucial if we are to capitalize on this opportunity.

Building a Brighter Future for Women-Led Businesses: Celebrating IYES on #MSMEDay2024 In honour of World Micro, Small, and Medium-sized Enterprises Day (MSME Day) on June 27th, let's celebrate initiatives like the ILO Women's Entrepreneurship Development's "Improve Your Exhibiting Skills" (IYES) programme. IYES empowers women-led micro and small enterprises by equipping them with the tools they need to thrive in the marketplace. Developed specifically for organisations supporting women entrepreneurs, IYES provides practical guidance in marketing, communication, and promotional activities tailored to trade fairs. This empowers these women to confidently showcase their businesses, build connections, and secure better market access and growth opportunities. My experience as an ILO-trained IYES facilitator in 2019 firsthand exemplifies the program's impact and the power of collaboration between business service providers and NGOs. I facilitated a three-day training for 28 women from marginalised communities. This training was organised by Tabitha Cumi Foundation, a local NGO with strong community ties and a deep understanding of community social dynamics, in partnership with Mercy Corps, an international NGO. Beyond the training, the Tabitha Cumi Foundation has provided ongoing business mentoring and tailored support to address these micro-enterprises specific challenges. This comprehensive approach transformed the participants' approach to business, enabling them to reach new markets and achieve economic independence. Today, they're even receiving orders internationally from the US, UK, and Canada! Join us as we continue to champion inclusion and empower women entrepreneurs! #EmpoweringWomen #InclusiveEconomy #MSMEDay2024 #ILO #ILOIYES #Entrepreneurship #NGOcollaboration
