🌊 Reporting live from Vienna's BOKU River Lab, we're immersed in the 3rd Austrian National Participation Day. Under the theme 'Waters 2040: Climate Change and Resilient Water Management in the Danube Catchment,' this event marks a critical juncture for shaping the future of water management in the Danube region. Kicking off the event, H.E. Leonore Gewessler, Federal Minister for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation, and Technology (BMK), Austria, delivered an inspiring keynote address, setting the tone for a day of insightful discussions. In a highlight session, Igor Liska, ICPDR’s Technical Expert for water quality, presented on 'Flood and Drought Risk Management in the Danube River Basin', alongside other distinguished speakers who joined the panel online. 🙂 Igor underscored the necessity of targeted measures and collaborative efforts. "We at the ICPDR need specific measures to accomplish our plans. Our collaboration with the EUSDR and their practical, basin-wide support is crucial to this work", he stated, emphasizing the importance of cooperation for achieving our objectives. The Danube Civil Society Forum (DCSF), established under the EU Strategy for the Danube Region's first Action Plan, serves as a crucial platform for civil society cooperation, opinion and capacity building, and networking in the Danube Region, reinforcing the 4th pillar, "Strengthening the Danube Region."
