⚠ AWS forces an upgrade, increasing the cost of legacy versions: Starting from 17 Jun, 2024, customers using the following runtimes are expected to see an increase in build time by approximately 240 seconds. ▪️ Node.js 12 ▪️ Node.js 14 ▪️ Corretto 8 ▪️ Corretto 11 ▪️ Python 3.7 ▪️ Python 3.8 To maintain similar build times, we recommend that Node.js 12 and Node.js 14 users migrate to Node.js 18 and that Python 3.7 and Python 3.8 users migrate to Python 3.11. Dropbox decided to re-implement its python backend in Golang. The main USP of golang is it's ability to perform concurrency, which enables developers to write scalable applications. It has a concept of go-routines, which are very lightweight (8KB. 4KB before v1.2), we can compare them with threads in other languages, which consume more memory. Threads are managed at OS level, but go routines integrates deeply with Go run time, has less overhead as compared to threads and can utilize multiple CPU's through Go scheduler.
