I want to share this very personal story.    You may or may not relate to it.   I talked about perspective and how it can make your life much more fulfilling.   I touched upon this topic because I was guilty of having a very negative perspective, which had damaged my career.    The story begins after my graduation.   I graduated as a top student in electromechanical engineering.   I graduated with a total GPA of 3.6 out of 4.    I expected a lot.    No many people expected from me a lot.    All my relatives and friends wanted to see where this kid would end.    I searched and applied for hundreds of jobs.    I attended each job fair.    But there were no results for four months.    Until one company accepted.   But it was an internship with so little money.   And it was a production engineering internship.    I AM an electromechanical engineer.   The company was not the biggest.  The money was not much. This didn't satisfy my ego.   But I had to accept it, I did not want to keep staying at home.   I worked there but I have the most negative perspective because I hate that this is my only option.    I believed I deserved better.    That is the reason every inconvenience turned into something that annoyed me.    The production work is related to people management and data analysis.   Nothing was related to my electromechanical background.    instead of saying my job isn't hard technically and it aligns with my skills.    I said my job is degrading and I hated all the things I done.   That's why I had a very difficult time changing my perspective.    I made an evaluation system that yielded better results.   So, I saw that I could do good things.  I could make an impact. I understood that the role of the production engineer is crucial.    From this perspective, I was able to be happy with my work.   I was able to modify and grow.   Right now, I say proudly that I am a production engineer.    If I had not changed my perspective, I would have quit.    I quit anyway 😂 but not because I hate being a production engineer but because I got a new offer as a researcher   Now, after reflecting on my past, I found that being a production engineer was the perfect job for me.   I want to talk about personal measurements of success, but I will leave it for future posts.    This turned out to be a long post, but I want to ask you what perspective you need to change in your life right now.  Do you relate to this story ? did you have any negative perspective in the past ?    #PersonalGrowth #Prespective #PersonalStory #Contentwriter #Productivity

For engineering interns hunting for jobs right now, here's the deal – constantly saying in an interview that you're all about learning won't necessarily make you a top pick. It's not just about repeating how keen you are to learn. You've got to make sure the company knows what unique skills you bring to the table. And by that, I'm not talking about your super technical skills because they're not expecting you to be a total pro in that department. What I mean by a unique skill set is: Can you teach yourself stuff? Have you been diving into projects that match the job you're gunning for? Are you picking up new things, not just techie stuff but maybe even beyond that? These skills show off your learning abilities way better than just saying you want to learn. So next time, the hiring manager asks you “what are your expectations from this role?”. Make sure to emphasize that you’re here to work with an experienced team of engineers so you can learn from them and APPLY your knowledge to solve the company’s tech problems. How I landed my first internship 💼 You might be wondering, “Jonathan, what's the secret? 🔍 Interview Experience with ElectricPe I recently had the opportunity to interview with ElectricPe, and while the outcome wasn't as I hoped, the journey was incredibly insightful. Here's a breakdown of my experience: Round 1: Online Assessment This round featured 4 questions: 2 LeetCode Medium and 2 LeetCode Hard. I managed to solve and submit all of them within 30 minutes, which led to the next step in the process. Round 2: Machine Coding Round This round was quite unexpected! Instead of a DSA round, the interviewer asked questions about my projects and requested that I code a new feature on one of them. Initially, I was nervous, but I successfully implemented the feature, and the interviewer seemed satisfied with my performance. Round 3: Technical Round I anticipated another DSA round, but it began with a discussion about my tech stack. The task was to code an LRU cache with some modifications. I successfully completed the task, and the interviewer appeared pleased with my solution. Verdict: Not Selected 😔 Although I wasn't selected for further rounds, I believe the time taken to implement solutions might have been a factor. Learnings: • Be prepared for any type of question during interviews. Solely focusing on DSA isn't enough •Problem-solving skills paired with development skills are crucial in today's job market. Conclusion: Every experience is a learning opportunity. I am determined to improve and be ready for any challenges that come my way in future interviews. Job titles carry a significant amount of information about the level of experience and responsibilities associated with a particular role. There is no secret here, it's not rocket science: what could entry level mean? The answer lies within the title itself: entry level means starting point. The same theory goes to other levels. When a company submits a job for "Head of" something, candidates expect to lead, innovate and possibly drive substantial change within the organization. You can't call a job Head of Strategy, and then say it's a junior role. Does it make sense? Entry level = for beginners, with minimal experience Head/Lead of = for seniors, requiring extensive experience There is a lot in between both these levels, so being precise about these endpoints brings clarity on the responsibilities when discussing other roles inside the spectrum. I usually don't make posts to sites like LinkedIn, but I am at a total loss right now and I am wondering if anyone is struggling the same way I have to find a reasonable job. After attending the career fairs and talking to as many recruiters as possible, I started applying online to internships for this summer. I ended up applying to about 75 positions before the end of the semester, but I was not invited to a single interview. I've had several people look at my resume and tell me it's good, and I also included a cover letter for many of the positions I applied to, yet not a response from any of them. I'd like to point out one in particular that stood out to me as a little absurd: I received a notification from LinkedIn that Roush was hiring interns, and after looking at the posting, it was clear they were looking for someone in my exact scenario. Here's a couple of the listed requirements/wants they had: -Junior or senior standing (I am) -Aerospace coursework (I am an aerospace major) -Member of a Baja SAE or Formula SAE team (I am) -Hands on automotive experience (I have about 4 years) I was the third applicant on LinkedIn. I did not receive any form of response, no follow-up, no interview invitation, not even a denial. After I realized I was getting nowhere with internships, I started applying to mechanic jobs in the area. I applied to about 30 of those. Not a single response. So I started mass applying to anywhere I felt would be reasonable. After about 120 applications sent out over the course of 6 months, I finally got an interview and a job at a house painting/epoxy flooring company. Unfortunately that isn't where the trouble ends. Today starts the 5th week I've been employed here. I worked zero hours last week because after not working Mon-Wed last week due to rain, my boss has not responded to any of my texts or calls. I got in contact with the guy who hired me, and it turns out I'm being moved to a different crew (without my knowledge or any way of notification). I still have not been put in contact with my new boss, nor have I been given any information on where the site is that I'm supposed to be working at. Not to mention I have not been paid for the second week of work, only the first and third. I'm at a total loss for what to do now. I'm going to start applying to as many places as I can again, but I'm worried that I won't have an income for the majority of this summer. If you made it through my whole post, thanks for taking the time to understand my situation. I've been so frustrated with this for so long, I feel like I have to be doing something wrong. Is anyone else in a similar situation? Has anyone experienced something similar before? Everyone I know seems to have no trouble at all finding an internship, but I have been left working odd jobs with very few hours for the last two summers, and now with less than two months left before classes start I've only been paid $900. 🙁
