Artificial intelligence is the new electricity. When OpenAI launched ChatGPT in late 2022, nobody expected that AI would be developed so fast that we would be on the brink of the AGI revolution. But now, here we are where every major tech giant wants their pie in this new AI age. Meta has recently announced that they are working to build Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) to not miss the train of AI. Meta wants to open source its AGI so everyone can have access to it. Their 2 research groups; FAIR (Fundamental Artificial Intelligence Research) and Gen AI will be working together for this auspicious project. Meta is having major infrastructural development as they will have 600K NVIDIA H100 GPUs by the end of 2024 by adding fresh 350K units more. In terms of hardware, they made smart glasses in partnership with Ray-Ban which are mixed-reality quest VR goggles. They are also working on upgrading their Llama 3 model. Their main competitors will be Google and Microsoft, which already have their AI labs Deepmind and OpenAI working on it.
