On the 10th of October, the 2nd Inspiring Session of Ordina took place. There was a lot to talk about during this hybrid event about the subject: 'A Digital World'. Dennis Kaltofen kicked-off the session with the statement that the only constant that we have is change, especially in an accelerating digital world. The speed of change within an organization is captured and discussed in a model that constitutes of 4 building blocks: purpose or sensemaking (why), mastery (how), role model (who), and embedment (what next). These building blocks are key aspects to understand, initiate, enable, and reinforce change.   Next, Karin Van Hoecke talked about her experiences at KBC. What most sticked with me were the three pillars that are crucial for a succesful Digital Transformation: Process, Organization, and Cultural Change. The in-depth analysis provided interesting insights in the need to address all three to drive organizational change.   The session was concluded by an inspiring quote by Barbara de Koning Gans who said: "You win, or you learn", which is a powerful mindset principle to turn the negative associations of 'losing' or 'failing' into something positive that allow people to be assertive, take action, and learn from their experiences towards the future.   All in all, a great session that made me think about the increasingly important role of IT, Ordina and myself as #changemakers in the changing environment of the Digital World.

Recognition - It’s a word we often throw around in the corporate world. But have we paused to ponder its actual impact on our lives, both professionally and personally? What was the exceptional performance that led to the Certificate of Appreciation? A few months ago, I received a Certificate of Appreciation for exceptional performance in my role at Sogeti. Along with the joy, it made me introspect, Why does being recognized matter? Recognition isn't simply about the tangible rewards or the fleeting moment of glory. It's about validation - a validation of your efforts, dedication, and passion. It reminds you that your work matters, your contributions are valued and your presence makes a difference. In our personal lives too, the recognition we receive, in even the most minor forms, builds our self-confidence, reaffirms our worth, and strengthens our relationships. Apparently everyone is doing that, so let's go with the flow... Thanks to everyone who's nominated me. Even though I think it was just a couple of persons, this nomination means that someone is recognizing and appreciating my efforts and this is very important to me. Lately I've been feeling a bit overwhelmed so this nomination is giving me the strength I need to go on and resist, accepting the challenges we have to face on a daily basis and not giving up. Today marks my 🔟 anniversary at Exadel 🎉 This is a good time to reflect on why I am still here, even though sometimes I feel the urge for change. In these moments, I ask myself the following questions: - Do the company's values still match my own? - Is the company still growing? - Does my contribution still bring significant value to the company? - Does the company appreciate what I do? - Am I surrounded by professionals at a higher level that I can aspire to? - Are there people who benefit from my experience and expertise? - Is there a supportive environment here that believes in me? - Can I continue to gain new experiences here? - By working in this company, do I become stronger and more skilled both as a professional and as a person? And year after year, I get a "YES" to all these most important questions. Of course, like any company, there are challenges here, but they do not overshadow the benefits I see for my professional and personal growth. It is undoubtedly a significant occasion to celebrate the ILAC-IAF Joint Annual Meetings, yet it prompts reflection on whether we are genuinely at a stage of celebration or in need of addressing the global warming on the dilution of accreditation and processes. This meeting should serve as a reminder of the challenges we face in preserving the true essence of quality. It is disheartening to witness the dilution of quality in the pursuit of utopian standards, often driven by commercial interests. Both ISO 9000, ISO 17025, and 15189 standards require substantial changes; it appears that those on the technical committee may be disconnected from practical realities. In India, the dilution of standards is happening rapidly, and accreditation and certifications have become more commercialized. The IAF Logo certificate is now available at USD 10. Trusting the quality of lab reports is becoming increasingly difficult. All of these issues should be brought to the attention of the ILAC-IAF meeting. A disclaimer should be used in the accreditation certificate, stating that accreditation doesn’t guarantee the quality of test results.
