Strategic Leader in Career Development & Partnerships | Advocate for Access & Equity | Committed to Student Success through Innovation
Employer Partners: Registration is at about 40% full for our Cleveland State University Wide Spring 2024 Career Fair sponsored by Avient Corporation! The fair will be held on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 from 10AM-2PM. Why is this fair different? First of all, it is a public fair that takes over all three floors of the Cleveland State University Student Center, meaning it is accessible to all students. When you think about the student population that Cleveland State serves and supports - diverse, first-generation, urban, international, and more - this fair values that open feeling of making career accessible to all. Our fair seeks to educate underclassmen by helping to break down the barriers students experience to introduce them to employers, letting all students know they have a place in networking, talking with employers, and being a part of the career development process. You are making a difference in the lives of our students by attending. Last year, we saw over 900 students in attendance. It's going to be a party. Ready to register? Click on the link to take you to our Handshake registration now: https://lnkd.in/gCRBqcKB Register early as space is limited! (Note that we also have six sponsorships still available. Reach out to me or Aiola Ambo Gill you'd like to know more specifically about sponsorship!) #careerfair #highereducation #careerdevelopment #careercounseling #recruiting #universityrecruiting #studentsuccess #studentbelonging #cleveland

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a career fair, and it was an eye-opening experience. The process was smooth and stress-free—no more scouring the internet endlessly, trying to make sense of countless options. Instead, everything was centralized, allowing me to interact directly with representatives, ask specific questions, and get insights tailored to my goals. At Inspiredvalley (Inspired Eduventures Pvt. Ltd.) , we host similar career fairs, and it’s incredible to witness how these events guide students toward making informed decisions. They offer a clear, focused platform where students can explore multiple universities in one place, compare programs, and discover new opportunities, all without the confusion or hassle. For universities, it’s a chance to connect with a diverse pool of motivated students. For students, it’s a streamlined path to explore their future education and career pathways, ensuring they make choices that truly align with their aspirations. Hosting career fairs isn’t just about bringing universities and students together—it’s about shaping futures and empowering the next generation. If your school is also interested in hosting a career fair, click the link below to fill out the Google form. We start our campus recruiting with the UIUC iSchool Networking Night and Career Fair today and tomorrow, and I can't believe we're already back at it! There's a great energy at career fairs and we're so excited to meet students where they are and talk about where they could go. 💫 Here's a few tips for students getting geared up for fairs this fall: 🌟 Make use of the career services office at your school - they are there to help you, and have lots of tips and some tricks! 🌟 Make sure your resume is up to date and easy to read. Bring a few printed out copies of your resume to events to show to recruiters, but understand that not all companies will take physical copies. A lot of companies will ask you to apply online. 🌟 Take a look at the companies attending fairs and events ahead of time; do some research on the company itself and see if you are interested in learning more. Excited for another campus recruiting season! See you soon 😎 #campusrecruiting #earlytalent #internships #techtalent #campusrecruiter #MakeItMeanSomething

❓ Has “Scan the QR Code” replaced “Go to the Website” as a career fair 'toxic practice'? Every year at this time, since it was first published in the August 2016 NACE Journal, I have posted a link [I'll drop in Comments] to this Op-Ed I wrote: “Career Fairs are NOT Dead”. Simply stated, although the technology has certainly evolved, the cause-and-effect of the career fair experience remains constant: if students get “blown off” [their term] by recruiters directing them to scan their resume to a QR code and/or to visit their website in lieu of a ‘genuine conversation’, that telegraphs disinterest in them – at best. 👉 Here’s how I concluded the 2016 Op-Ed: “What I find intriguing is that the more we introduce technology into the recruitment toolkit, the more value students place on the type of face-to-face interactions that occur at career fairs”. It’s eight years later, and I wouldn’t change a word. 👈
