On behalf of everyone here at Marathon Health, happy 4th of July! Today we honor the brave servicemen and women who have made sacrifices to protect the values our country holds dear, and we celebrate our nation's independence and the freedom to live healthy, happy lives.
To everyone celebrating, we wish you a safe, happy, and fun-filled Independence Day!
Our Contributions Touch the Lives of Others as We #AdventureTogether
Our #uniquejourney of aging is an adventure together. It is by sharing our gifts we realize the true essence of beginning-belonging-being-becoming-befriending. Our contributions touch the lives of others, encouraging them in ways we may not witness.

In the laughter of children lies the universal language of hope.
To mark the year’s end at World Health Organization, our staff brought their children to the office for a day. I was inspired by their innocence and pure happiness.
Let’s turn their laughter into inspiration to unite together, transcend borders and overcome global challenges.
Let's work together for a healthier, safer and more peaceful world.
As we dive into February, we are set to celebrate National Senior Independence Month! We wanted to provide a few tips on how everyone can celebrate their age and independence to improve health and live a more fulfilled life! #SeniorIndependenceMonth
😎 That is it. The competition has started. On our way to eternal life on Earth.
As a first step, we will all have to standardize our lives and obey AI systems that will educate us and lead us for our own good. Indeed, the basis to access a longer life on earth is to eat properly, exercise properly, and sleep enough while avoiding risky activities.
The human-driven behavioral treatment we have received until now (Libertarian paternalism, Thaler) will be further optimized and detached from any human control. The health insurance will nudge us in the right direction.
Not sure I will enjoy this new paradigm.
I propose some ways to resist in:

I do not like religion in general and do not want to be controlled by a new technological religion in particular.
By the way, the beginning of the 21st century has a lot in common with the beginning of the 20th century. 100 years ago, we also dreamed of a world that would be open and free and a life that would increase in duration. Several solutions were proposed to enhance life duration.
The result of this phase of liberalization was the second world war.
According to F. Fukuyama, “The foundations of identity were laid with the perception of a disjunction between one’s inside and one’s outside. Individuals come to believe that they have a true or authentic identity hiding within themselves that is somehow at odds with the role they are assigned by their surrounding society. The modern concept of identity places a supreme value on authenticity, on the validation of that inner being that is not being allowed to express itself.[1]”
In this new era of modernity, however, “It is not the inner self that has to be made to conform to society’s rules, but society itself that needs to change.”[…]“Because human beings naturally crave recognition, the modern sense of identity evolves quickly into identity politics, in which individuals demand public recognition of their worth.”

This focus on each and everyone's ego is making life in society difficult, democracy dysfunctional, and destroying the points of reference of a large majority of the population.
Similarly to what happened at the beginning of the 20th century, the current phase of liberalization could well end up with political parties on the far-right being brought to power by this lost majority. Have a look at what is happening in Europe and the US. Unless AI takes over.

Here's one of my more controversial convictions.
I will live to be 500 years old... at least, and so will you.
Scientific and Technological Progress is accelerating.
#Ai has already helped us uncover 200 million new protein structures this year alone.
That represents multiple exponential progress in medicine and biological science.
We are not only headed for Technological Singularity, but for Immortality.

Thanks to Andrew Middleton FRSA for the following post on INDY (I'm Not Done Yet):
The last century saw a revolution in life expectancy. And this revolution will require us to shift what we do at every age and will demand a transformation of every aspect of our society. Most of us are now expected to live much longer than previous generations. But instead of seeing this as a precious gift of extra life, we see it as a burden, with ageing populations dogged by infirmity, dependent on an ever-decreasing number of young people to support them.
Andrew J. Scott – the world’s leading expert on the economics of longevity - argues it doesn't have to be like that. In his new book The Longevity Imperative, he shows how our longer lives can be a source of hope and fulfilment if we seize the opportunity to invest in our health, skills, personal relationships and community connections to support a flourishing longer life for ourselves, and for the planet.
Watch Andrew at the RSA in conversation with Noreena Hertz, economist, broadcaster and bestselling author of The Lonely Century: A Call to Reconnect.
