Surround yourself with people who challenge you! It’s been a minute since I’ve had the bandwidth to work and event with these women but the NXP Semiconductors - Empowering Innovation with Austin Women in Semi and STEM was truly inspiring. So many times, we talk ourselves out of something because we worry it won’t be good enough, or because we’re not sure we have what it takes. Jessica Adams brought this event to life in 1-month! It wasn’t a polished event with a team of communications and event experts. It was fueled by passion and a can-do attitude, and it was bigger and better than any of us thought was possible when we all answered Jessica’s call and said “Sure, I’d love to help”. Well, the bar has been set and it was not set low. Yes, we are already talking about the next Austin women’s event. Every event may be a labor of love on a small budget, and will not matter one bit to the women inspired by them! Thank you to all the amazing women and sponsors, especially Skyworks Solutions, Inc., the newest member of the #AustinWomeninSemi scene. And to Brandy Bassett Fotinos (Applied Materials), Sonji Thompson (Skyworks Solutions, Inc.), Khurshid Anis (NXP Semiconductors), Fraya Cohen (Cirrus Logic), and Stan Brenden (Cirrus Logic) Sarah Le and Mai Vang from Applied Materials Claudia Medina from Cirrus Logic Leila Kasprzyk from Skyworks Solutions, Inc. A VISION FOR INCLUSIVITY IN SCIENCE: Liz Rogan's Call to Action for Feb 11th In a world eagerly awaiting the next wave of technological breakthroughs, Elizabeth Rogan, CEO of Optica, highlights a conversation that is still as critical as it is transformative. Her reflections below serve as a message and a beacon guiding us towards the urgent need for a more inclusive future in science. Liz asks us, "What's the problem we're trying to solve?" This question, while often leading to innovative solutions, also shines a light on the systemic barriers preventing a significant portion of our talent pool in both academia and industry from contributing fully. The evidence is clear and compelling: women face disproportionately higher levels of discrimination in the scientific domain, which in turn, hampers their ability to engage, innovate, and lead. Under Liz's leadership, Optica is championing a mission that is both noble and necessary. Our organization is dedicated to enabling women and girls to not only access but excel in the fields of optics and photonics. Recognizing the historical biases and taking actionable steps towards rectifying them is at the heart of Optica's commitment to change. February 11th is celebrated worldwide as the International Day of Women in Science. It stems from a #UN Resolution adopted by the General Assembly on 22 December 2015. On this 9th anniversary, Liz's message is a powerful reminder: the world desperately needs science, and science desperately needs women. Especially now. In these often uncertain times, our collective future hinges on our ability to embrace inclusivity, ensuring that every brilliant mind, regardless of gender, has the opportunity to contribute to our shared quest for knowledge and innovation. Liz believes, and my team and I wholeheartedly support, that inclusivity is not just a goal but a fundamental requirement for the advancement of science. We need the diverse perspectives and talents of everyone to tackle the global sustainability challenges we face and to uncover new realms of discovery. Please join me in echoing Liz Rogan's call to action. Let's commit to building an environment where inclusivity is the norm, where every contribution is valued, and where the future of science both bright and boundless. Maybe it is time to remake this excellent video with women role models in the field of photonics? https://lnkd.in/dJBCeCdr #InclusivityInScience #WomenInPhotonics #Optica #InternationalDayOfWomenInScience #DiversityInSTEM

Engineering Member Technical Staff at onsemi Equipment Engineering | Efficiency is the Ultimate Goal
So 60 minutes just aired a story on the Semiconductor industry, about how how we need to bring "home" more of leading edge semiconductor industry. Part of it was how we need unionization, "to attract more women" into the semiconductor field, and fill these jobs. Now I work with amazing women in this industry, and they are are absolutely, capable, and important in this effort. Women are leaders, problem solvers, and an incredible strength of this industry, it's workforce, and its future. What I am worried about for the Future of this industry, is the rights for all of the workers in it. How Ohio and Arizona enforce Women's' Equal rights over their bodies, and medical procedures, directly affect the companies ability to hire the talent required must be considered. Offending, or restricting more than 1/2 of the population's rights to control their own health care and decisions over what they can legally do with their own decisions, is a National imperative if this it to be successful.
