Raytheon completes first flight check of recent AMRAAM-ER https://lnkd.in/dvjC6-As Raytheon, in partnership with Kongsberg Protection & Aerospace, with the assist of the Ministry of Protection (MoD) and the Norwegian Armed Forces, has efficiently performed a flight check of an up to date variant of the AMRAAM-Prolonged Vary (ER) missile from a nationwide superior floor missile. Airborne Missile System (NASAMS). The profitable flight check exhibits the improved capabilities of the upgraded AMRAAM-ER. The newest model of the AMRAAM-ER incorporates modern options, together with the AIM-120 C-8 steering part, together with a extra sturdy 10-inch rocket motor from Nammo and a 10-inch management actuator system, often known as the Norwegian. Propulsion stack, developed by Kongsberg Protection & Aerospace. The Norwegian Ministry of Protection has performed a collaborative function on this modern setup. – ADVERTISING – CONTINUE READING BELOW – Paul Ferraro, president of Raytheon Air and House Protection Methods, emphasised the significance of integrating this new expertise into the AMRAAM-ER, guaranteeing its superior capabilities for the foreseeable future. He highlighted the pliability of agile software program updates, which is able to frequently enhance AMRAAM to successfully counter evolving threats. The excellent check section included a check firing, throughout which the missile adopted a pre-programmed flight path to validate its protected exit from the NASAMS launcher and its total efficiency. The AMRAAM-ER is designed particularly for integration with the NASAMS launcher, offering enhanced air protection safety by intercepting targets at better ranges and altitudes in comparison with the non-extended vary AMRAAM. NASAMS, a flexible medium-range air protection resolution, is a collaborative effort between Raytheon and Kongsberg Protection & Aerospace. With many years of expertise, trade cooperation, and substantial investments from all stakeholders, this cooperative settlement goals to bolster NASAMS' capabilities to successfully handle complicated, evolving threats. The New York Times #NYT article “Why #GPS Is Under Attack” underscores the urgent need for the United States to prioritize and invest in our #GPS infrastructure. https://lnkd.in/dTmdJw2K The #US needs a bureaucratic and technical moonshot mentality to maintain a competitive advantage. With over 60,000 #commercial #flights affected by bogus #GPS signals this year alone, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Rock-solid positioning even in the most #volatile#battlespaces. That’s what today’s military forces expect from military Global Positioning System (#GPS) products that play a crucial role in closing the kill chain. The #killchain is a fundamental concept of modern warfare. It refers to the process of identifying, tracking, engaging, and destroying a threat. It’s the blueprint essential to military planners who chart a course of distinct stages for engagement with adversaries. And GPS is – quite literally – leading the way. GPS satellites orbit the Earth and continuously transmit signals to terrestrial GPS receivers to determine their exact location. The technology assists in guiding weapons to the pre-determined location of its target with high precision, increasing the chances of a successful engagement and mission completion.

Lockheed Martin, a global aerospace leader, has announced the expansion of its production capabilities for the AN/AAQ-33 Sniper Advanced Targeting Pod (ATP) components with a new production line at its Ampthill facility in Bedfordshire, UK. The new production line at Ampthill will focus primarily on manufacturing cabling essential for integrating the Sniper ATP into various aircraft types. This initiative complements the existing manufacturing activities at Lockheed Martin’s Ocala facility in Florida, enhancing the overall production capacity and efficiency of the Sniper ATP systems. The Sniper ATP, renowned for its precision targeting and advanced surveillance capabilities, is more than just a targeting system. As described by Lockheed Martin, it also serves critical roles in communications, data gathering, and transmission. These functionalities are becoming increasingly vital as allied nations emphasize multidomain operations and joint all-domain command and control. Boeing deal maker with Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) for #GlideBreaker. “#Hypersonic vehicles are among the most dangerous and rapidly evolving threats facing national security,” said Gil "Waco" Griffin, executive director of Boeing Phantom Works Advanced Weapons. “We’re focusing on the technological understanding needed to further develop our nation’s counter-hypersonic capabilities and defend from future threats.” Under Glide Breaker, DARPA will inform the design and development of future hypersonic interceptors. This future missile technology destroys threats that travel at least five times the speed of sound (Mach 5) in the upper atmosphere during what is known as the “glide phase” of flight. DARPA is also funding a phase 2 BAA. https://lnkd.in/gvT_-bka Phase 2 focuses on quantifying #aerodynamic jet interaction effects that result from DACS plumes and hypersonic air flows around an interceptor kill vehicle. The Glide Breaker Phase 2 Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) can be found at this link. https://lnkd.in/gWfiA53r “Glide Breaker Phase 1 developed the #propulsion technology necessary to achieve hit-to-kill against highly-maneuverable hypersonic threats. The goal of Phase 2 of the Glide Breaker program will be to develop the technical understanding of jet interactions necessary to enable design of propulsion control systems for a future operational glide-phase interceptor kill vehicle. Phases 1 and 2 together fill the technology gaps necessary for the U.S. to develop a robust defense against hypersonic threats,” said Major Nathan Greiner, program manager in DARPA’s Tactical Technology Office. # # #
