Very insightful data analysis from 4WARN! It's concerning to see how many law firms and public adjusters were already capitalizing on Hurricane Idalia before it even hit landfall. It's not just about preparing for a surge in claims, but also understanding the broader legal landscape surrounding these situations. Knowledge is power in the world of tech-enabled claims instigation! Learn how to protect your organization and visit our website at https://www.4warn.com #ClaimsInstigation #4WARN
Our data revealed that 48 hours before Hurricane Idalia made landfall on the Florida coast, numerous law firms, public adjusters, and other organizations were running Google ads encouraging policyholders to file claims related to the storm. Many were already implying that the hurricane had caused property damage. This raises the question of how policyholders can file claims when the storm hasn't even struck yet. 4WARN's data and insight reports not only help you prepare for a surge in claims but also for the potential of mass claims litigation initiated by opportunistic law firms. "Every accomplishment starts with the decision to try" John F. Kennedy --- and success comes from vision, dedication, and teamwork.
As always, my thanks to William "Craig" F. for highlighting key concerns and needs post-Disaster, which not only apply to Florida but pretty much across the country. A key question is: How can Emergency Management work (or public programs) if those who are expected to provide those services cannot afford to live in the communities they serve (post-disaster or anytime). https://lnkd.in/eKUYbkK8

Many communities remain vulnerable to severe weather because local jurisdictions have not adopted or enforced modern building codes. In fact, less than 35% of Americans live in regions with an enforced modern building code – requirements that have proven to save lives, reduce property damage, lessen disruption in our lives and strengthen the resiliency of our communities. Today, the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety - IBHS released our fifth edition of Rating the States, which assesses building code adoption, enforcement and contractor licensing in 18 states along the hurricane coastline. Is your local code leaving you susceptible to Mother Nature? Find out at https://lnkd.in/eqDijHT7.

Although it may not be hurricane season, the risk of contractor scams is a year round storm Floridians face, especially in areas impacted by tornadoes and flooding. It is crucial to stay cautious and informed about contractor scams, even during the hurricane off-season. The devastation caused by natural disasters leaves communities vulnerable, and unfortunately, it is not uncommon for opportunistic individuals to take advantage of homeowners in their time of need. Contractor scams can lead to financial loss, prolonged damage, and further distress. This is why it is essential to know the signs of scammers, as fraud can increase following natural disasters. By staying informed about common scams, verifying contractor credentials, and seeking reputable sources for guidance, we can protect ourselves from falling victim to fraudulent practices. If you encounter any suspicious activity, you can reach out to the Florida Department of Fraud Services & the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation. To file a complaint about inappropriate actions by a contractor, contact DBPR: (850) 487-1395, or visit www.MyFloridaLicense.com. https://lnkd.in/e9MvRxBr
