Mario Draghi's recent intervention resonates deeply with some of the challenges we’re facing now at Klarna. One of our key focus areas is Governing Documents, due to their impact and complexity. Working for a European company, especially in the financial sector, means navigating a complex regulatory landscape. Compliance is a high-demand area, and it often demands significant resources to justify every action — or the lack of it. Draghi’s reference to GDPR highlights one of the toughest regulations to follow, but there are many others. A beautiful example is Apple's new iPhone launch, which vision intelligence features won't be available in the European version after latest AI regulations. 👩⚖️ At Klarna, I’ve been recurrently challenged not only to cite the specific articles used to justify internal controls and processes, but also to critically assess whether we could contest these regulations in court if needed. Operating from first principles rather than relying solely on positive law fosters a more ethical, sustainable, and efficient business environment. Too often, rules evolve, while logic and sound reasoning remain solid. Let's hope this competitiveness report generates as big as an impact as his famous "whatever it takes"!
