My dude Marc Randolph. The absolute best thing about this video, IMHO, is his hat. NOLS. That stands for National Outdoor Leadership School. When I was 17 I spent 24 days backpacking in the Yukon Territory--less than 100 miles from the arctic circle. Because I did that I got into college. I'll explain. I was a marginal student at best, but I knew how to write, and I knew what it meant to answer the Call of the Wild. Turns out, you put those things together and you get a pretty kick*ss admissions essay. Boom. Early Acceptance. Later in life I followed a passion (bike racing) to Colorado. Then I answered a Craig's List add for "CRM Business Analyst." I ended up employee #1 at a company call Vertiba doing work on a then little-know platform called "Salesforce." That set me on a path that allowed me to travel the world, help launch a product, meet my wife, and start an amazing life in Montana--where, by the way, I've dreamed of living since I was 11 years old. If you're early in your career, have hit a few roadblocks and aren't sure what to do next, skip the MBA, take a NOLS course. Marc Randolph with the reminder to “chill.” Great reminder for those striving that you have time. Having time doesn’t mean to remove your sense of urgency or let everything slide, but it’s an important REAL perspective on remembering success, growth, promotions, or that next thing takes time. Don’t be too hard on yourself where it’s counter productive. Great performance over long periods of time will be more impactful and meaningful with the longer time horizons anyway. Wishing the time and wishing for that next step can be tough to avoid, but remembering everything takes some amount of time is all great reality check to do the work, over time, and keep at it.

"Counting the Breath II" is a short and simple mindfulness exercise but rather effective in keeping us in that place within focus on the present moment and away from mental distraction. You can try this exercise in any position and in most places, while travelling, sitting or standing on a bus, train, tube, plane, or while waiting in a queue, or before a meeting, an interview, a presentation, a public talk, while having a work break. Basically, you can do this exercise almost anywhere and anytime you feel you are ‘away with the fairies’, with your mind elsewhere rather than concentrated on what you’re doing.
