Tennessee Behavioral Health Resources (TNBHR)📧💥 We’re excited to announce a new email group created specifically for mental health and substance abuse professionals in Tennessee and nearby states! Trey and I started this to streamline communication, as we’ve all been juggling multiple Messenger chats and group texts. We wanted to provide a more efficient solution for those of us who tend to check email more often throughout the day. This email group will primarily serve three purposes: 1. To inform each other about our roles, the services we provide, and where we’re located. 2. To assist with finding resources for clients, including placement support for complex cases. 3. To keep everyone informed about upcoming events in the behavioral health field. We hope this group will be a valuable resource for everyone, offering easy access to helpful information without overwhelming your inbox. Once added, you can email the entire group by sending a message to TNBHR@googlegroups.com.

Being open about autism at work is about being honest and comfortable about it in your workplace. It's like saying, "Hey, this is who I am, and I'm okay with it." When someone is open about their autism, it can help create understanding and acceptance among coworkers. It might mean explaining certain behaviors or preferences so others can support you better. Being open also means being willing to talk about any challenges or accommodations you might need to do your job well. Whether it's adjusting work schedules, communication styles, or providing quiet spaces, being open allows for constructive dialogue and problem-solving. Overall, it's about fostering an environment where everyone feels respected and valued for who they are, enhancing teamwork and productivity. If you need an appointment with a psychiatrist or psychologist, obtain a GP referral and call your local office NOW! 𝙃𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙤𝘿𝙤𝙘 𝙞𝙨 𝙉𝙊𝙏 𝙖𝙣 𝙚𝙢𝙚𝙧𝙜𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙮 𝙨𝙚𝙧𝙫𝙞𝙘𝙚. 𝘼𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙗𝙤𝙤𝙠𝙚𝙙 𝙞𝙣 𝙖𝙙𝙫𝙖𝙣𝙘𝙚. Mental Health Awareness Month I have the privilege of working with the most incredible behavioral health professionals in the nation. This is hard work. Every day they help individuals and groups develop their potential and possibilities. They are ever striving to find what is right and what is best to create hope, recovery, normalcy, and peace. Behavioral Health professionals save lives. Suicide is the second leading cause of death in those aged 10-34 and fifth in those 35-54. It is a death of despair that leaves a painful echo for those left behind. In 2022, over 100,000 people in the United States died of a drug overdose. We now have evidence-based strategies that can lead people to a life of recovery, led by behavioral health professionals. Join me in thanking them for their knowledge, skills, expertise, compassion and for not growing weary. #AdventHealth#FeelingWhole#Mentalhealth#Mentalhealthawarenessmonth

Workers mental health and wellness is something employers really need to take a hard look at. It is so easy to loose focus on the benefits of a wellness program until it’s to late. #workplacewellness #mentalhealth #psychologicalsafety
The Cobb County Sheriff’s Office opened its first-ever Relaxation Room dedicated to fostering mental health wellness for employees on Tuesday, Dec. 12 inside the Adult Detention Center. In response to these mental health challenges and the elevated risk of suicides among law enforcement professionals, the CCSO has taken a proactive stance. Thank you Atlanta News First for sharing our story. https://lnkd.in/ez2tHXsD

Experienced Operations Director | Empowering Mental Health Professionals to Find Fulfilling, Values-Aligned Roles
According the SAMHSA's 2023 report, 1 in 3 adolescents received some form of mental health treatment. 1 in 3!! There are a variety of factors contributing to this such as social media influence, academic pressures and increased awareness around mental health. As this number grows, so does the need for skilled, compassionate professionals who are ready to support young people through critical stages of their mental health journey. However, fewer therapists are stepping into residential roles roles. Why? It could be due to the intense, hands-on nature of residential work. It can be emotionally demanding and many therapists don’t feel supported enough to dive into it. At Mental Health Matchmakers, we see this as an opportunity to help fill these essential roles and advocate for work environments that value and support their teams. We do this by: ▶️ Prioritizing Fit: We focus on aligning therapists with programs that support not just the client, but the clinician too. ▶️ Highlighting Opportunity: Residential treatment offers the chance to make a real impact, work closely with clients, and foster deep professional growth. If you’re curious about taking on this kind of role, reach out! We’re here to answer questions and discuss what this work could look like for you. #ResidentialTreatment #TherapistCareers #MentalHealthProfessionals

Social Work Student at the University of Central Florida | Advocate for Substance Use and Mental Health | Devoted Mother
Challenging the Dominant Narrative in Recovery As a social work student and peer recovery support specialist, I've seen firsthand how the dominant 12-step culture can do more harm than good for many people struggling with addiction and mental health issues. It's time we stop excusing this reality and start having honest conversations about the need for more inclusive, compassionate, and evidence-based approaches to recovery. The truth is, the 12-step model doesn't work for everyone. Its rigid, one-size-fits-all philosophy can alienate and re-traumatize those who don't fit the mold. We need to accept that this modality helps fewer people than it harms, and stop using the fact that "it has helped" as a justification. As someone in long-term recovery myself, I'm passionate about advocating for a diversity of pathways to wellness. That's why I started the "Shot Out After Dark" Facebook group - a safe, judgment-free space that celebrates multiple roads to recovery. It's time to challenge the status quo and uplift marginalized voices in the addiction treatment and mental health communities. If you're with me, let's work together to create a more inclusive, compassionate future for all. #RecoveryMatters #MentalHealthAdvocacy #SocialJustice
