I am curious for those of you working in FP&A what part do you find hardest in your job? Let me know in the comments For me it was balancing managing the business relationships and collaboration with the often overwhelming workload as I tried to clean up data and processes. This is one reason I am such an advocate for technology and upskilling ourselves as they can both help us focus more on the value add activities.

This is how I see powerful FP&A teams work: 1. They set goals and get executive support What does success look like? Define clear objectives. Get alignment from leadership on the vision. Change starts at the top. 2. They evaluate their current state and capabilities Assess processes, data, the tech stack, skills, and roles. Identity gaps are blocking efficiency, analysis, and strategy. Prioritize initiatives to bridge gaps. Then tackle complex changes like new systems. Focus on quick wins first, like fixing poor data quality. 3. They optimize team structure and roles Map out responsibilities. - Centralized or decentralized? - Generalists or specialists? Recruit A-player talent. Write detailed job descriptions outlining must-have skills. Use networks and partnerships to source strong candidates. 4. They invest in training and development. Ongoing learning opportunities boost skills. Reliable and solid onboarding sets the stage for success. Improve cross-functional collaboration. Join forces around common goals. Break down silos blocking information flows. Implement performance metrics. KPIs like forecast accuracy track progress. Dashboards promote visibility and accountability. Leverage automation and analytics. Turn data into insights. Streamline repetitive tasks. Follow this roadmap to build a world-class FP&A team that drives insights and drives your company's growth. Tools that analyze data can show us trends and predictions, helping to answer the question "So what?" by suggesting what can happen next and what you can do about it. 3.
