Today marks one year since I closed the chapter on my time at Brand Vaughan and US LBM. A year ago when I left BVL/US LBM, I had a mentor give me incredible advice. He said, “Jon you suddenly have something that most people never have. A ministry of availability.” He encouraged me to use this ministry well and focus it on the right things, and the right people. I’ve been able to focus on my kids. I have the privilege of engaging in their lives by being present for the morning chatter, the after-school stories and the celebrations of their accomplishments. I’ve focused on my marriage by spending intentional time with my wife and giving her time to focus on her passions. I’ve focused on myself. By prioritizing my own health, I'm equipped to better care for others. I’ve focused on organizations that I love. Atlanta Mission, Lighthouse Family Retreat, North Point Ministries, Inc. and GRACEPOINT School are a few that I care about deeply. Have I committed to a lot? 100%. What this year of availability has taught me is what a blessing it is to say yes to being there for others. I can’t help but think of my grandfather, Cy Vaughan, and his lifelong commitment to being a loving father, husband and grandfather. While my time at Brand Vaughan ended, it was also the beginning of a beautiful new chapter.

4moI love NorthPoint. When I am in ATL visiting a friend, we always attend service @ NorthPoint Community Church. Such a great organization of faith.
