Reflecting on a day of Valuable Insights! As the CEO of Falcon Contract Flooring Sales Ltd, I often find myself immersed in strategic planning and business operational development. However, today, I decided to take a step back from the spreadsheets and meetings to reconnect with the heart of our company—our installers. I’ve always known the calibre of work our teams deliver, but there’s something incredibly grounding about seeing it up close. Sharing moments with our installers, understanding the intricacies of their challenges, and celebrating their triumphs has been enlightening. I must admit that the growth of Falcon, inadvertently distanced me from these invaluable interactions and I have missed them! But I’ve come to realise that these face-to-face engagements are not just beneficial for our camaraderie; they’re crucial for our collective success. The individuals I met today are more than just installers; they are the artisans of our industry and the architects of our future. Their commitment and expertise are the driving forces behind Falcon’s ascent. I am committed to ensuring that these site visits become a regular part of my routine. It’s not just about oversight; it’s about showing respect, offering support, and building relationships that elevate us all. Or a day? Or even 15 minutes from now? But when did being invisible become the norm? When did blending in become the status quo? We know that being different and standing out is scary, but isn’t being forgotten even worse? Having a unique voice is how you differentiate yourself from everyone else, even when you offer services or products similar to those of your competitors. Why can’t companies know who they are and express it differently? Why can’t they be a little more creative and a little more interesting? Things to celebrate about #strata number 3. Enjoying the wins - there are many and they come in all shapes and sizes. Resolving a maintenance issue, giving comfort and assistance after-hours, bringing harmony or calm to an otherwise at-odds-with-each-other AGM, producing a gold-star budget… there are so many ways one experiences a ‘win’ in strata. Take joy in those wins. Rightfully revel in them. Strata is a conundrum of restrictions that breeds genuine creativity and fosters positive relationships. One of the people I admire most in the industry said to me not so long ago, ‘…it doesn’t matter whether raw are glorified traffic management or know-everything experts, the job is still the same - it’s to make it easier for people.’ Wins galore.
