Who Am I? I field a lot of questions from recruiters and hiring managers about how I classify myself career-wise. Am I a Business Analyst? Am I an Implementation Specialist? Am I a Data Analyst? Am I an Auditor? I spent most of my life trying to fit into a mold of what others wanted me to be. Years ago I morphed into who I am today: I am all of those careers and more. I firmly believe the career finds you and not the other way around. As a child, I wanted to be a lawyer. Then I wanted to be a teacher. Then life and reality hit me hard and I had no choice but to hit the ground running as I moved out on my own at 18. I found myself as a receptionist to barely pay rent, while living off of store-brand $0.50 mac n cheese. Then I worked as an auditor when that assignment ended. Then that evolved with those skills into data analytics. Those then morphed into business analysis. With technology evolving at a fast pace, in order to keep up, I learned and excelled in implementations and integrations. I became and morphed into whatever my career needed me to be. Who am I today? I am all of those and more. I am enthusiastic. I am agile. I am a quick learner. I am resourceful. I am the desire to constantly learn new things daily and push myself to the next level. I am not who I am today out of necessity. I am who I need to be to get the project done right the first time and on time. This means I learn about you, about your processes, about your needs, about your company, about your mission, and all about you. This is necessary context before going into any project: having a full understanding of what you are doing and what you need to be done. Otherwise, you will not succeed in doing anything at all. You can present tables and charts to people, showing data. But how meaningful is that data without a story to tell? How meaningful are the charts and graphs if we cannot tell you what they actually mean so you can make an informed decision, be it about budgeting, project assignments, etc... So, who am I? I am a flexible, agile, resourceful, intense person who does not fall into any one category, but who morphs and learns constantly in order to get the job done right for you. We need to be ourselves, but we also need to be what our career needs us to be. We need to integrate our careers into ourselves and vice-versa, remaining flexible and agile. Therefore, who am I? I am.....a career metamorphosis.
