Earlier this month, JFS staff and volunteers walked a handful of interested clients to their local library branch to learn about all of the incredible resources right in their own neighborhood! Despite language barriers, volunteers were able to assist clients in applying for library cards and the library staff were able to educate the clients about the various resources they offer such as one-on-one ENL tutoring, computer access and assistance understanding bus routes. “I love the library, so it’s exciting to share my love of the library and provide clients access to such a useful community resource,” said JFS Volunteer Services Manager Emily Wirth. On top of the fantastic educational opportunity, clients were also able to mingle with each other and volunteers and bond over this shared experience!
