"Paris Syndrome" is the term that describes being underwhelmed by a trip that you were looking forward to because it didn't live up to your expectations. I can't imagine anything worse than spending thousands of dollars on a trip just to experience an overwhelming sense of apathy upon arrival, but thankfully, I found a trick to ensure this never happens: Exclusively flying on Boeing 737 MAX jets. Disappointment arises when reality fails to live up to your expectations, and by flying taking 737 MAX flights to other countries, my expectations couldn't be lower: I assume that we'll crash until proven otherwise. If you're flying first class on an Airbus, the flight itself may be a better experience than your vacation, but if you're on a Boeing 737 MAX, and you're just happy to land in one piece, the food will taste richer, the sun will shine brighter, and the beaches will be even prettier at your destination because you're happy to be alive. Has anyone else tried this? Edited to add one more advantage of the Boeing 737 MAX: in-flight entertainment in the form of real life "Where's Waldo" as you frantically search for your plane's defect.

Maybe you could fly to a country in eastern europe and not plan your hotel in advance or learn any of the language beforehand

always had wondered why people clapped when the Boeing 737 MAX lands. The trip really started when they boarded

TBH flying business/first is expected to be a highlight and I am willing to take longer flights to enjoy the butler service for longer periods of time. AirFrance was handing out actual Champagne toasts in the lounge the other day (for free, seemingly) - would I expect my destination city to do the same? Abso not.

I had a boss that when you ask him: How was your flight? He answered: Any flight that lands is a good one.

I went reluctantly to Paris my first time. Had no desire. Figured it would be awful. Was pleasantly surprised. It’s a Reverse Paris Syndrome, I guess… But yeah. Good plan! Long $BA as more people book flights to temperate travel expectations!

"Paris Syndrome"??!!! OMG, that's so good!! I didn't know about it, but that's soon to become one of my all-around catchphrases to make friends with my fellow countrymen who often criticize the bad capitalist Americans :D
