Happy Pride Month! Pride is an incredible opportunity for the LGBTQIA+ community to celebrate their authentic selves, and we are honored to join in this celebration this June. Over the past year, members of the JWI team founded Q&A (Queers & Allies), an initiative dedicated to fostering an even safer and more welcoming environment. JWI proudly supports this growing organization and is committed to providing the necessary resources for its success. To kick off Pride Month, Q&A is hosting a Chicagoland drag bingo event, with all donations going to “Life is Work,” a trans-led organization dedicated to educating, organizing, and empowering LGBTQIA+ individuals from diverse backgrounds to secure safety, wellness, and justice for all. Learn more about this amazing cause at lifeiswork.org or through the link in our bio. We look forward to creating more opportunities to support the LGBTQIA+ community. #Chicago #Denver #Orlando #construction #aviation #transportation #constructionmanagement #projectmanagement

We completely agree! The work of nonprofits is long-term and unpredictable. Multi-year, unrestricted funding gives grantees the flexibility to assess and determine where grant dollars are most needed, and allows for innovation, emergent action, and sustainability! Over 80% of The Schooner Foundation grants are unrestricted and multi-year.
"Restricted funding is not conducive to strengthening or supporting community and grassroots movements. Instead, it drives competition and makes collaboration more challenging—undermining the change we want to see in the world." Our director of strategic partnerships, Clare Gibson Nangle, writes for Inside Philanthropy alongside partners Shena Cavallo of Global Greengrants Fund, Celia Turner of Urgent Action Fund for Feminist Activism, and Jen Bokoff of Disability Rights Fund. It’s time for donors to make their actions match their words and embrace unrestricted funding. Read more: https://lnkd.in/eFiwtcGy #Philanthropy #Activism #HumanRights

While one of our staff members was out recently, they watched someone access a bathroom with a ramp, only to find the door too heavy for them to open in their wheelchair. Just a few days later, they saw the same thing, but this was simply to get the front door open. Even though there was accessible parking and a ramp to get to the the door. We wanted to share this with you all as a powerful reminder that accessibility isn't just about one feature, it's the whole experience. What are your thoughts? Have you encountered similar situations? Let's continue to work together and raise awareness to create a world where everyone can navigate their surroundings with ease. True living begins when we extend our hearts beyond ourselves and embrace the needs of humanity. It’s about rising above self-interest to uplift others and contribute to a world where everyone matters. Only then can we truly say we’ve started living—not just for ourselves, but for the good of all. www.thecareaffairs.com . . #Careaffairs #disability #disabilityawareness #InclusivityMatters #AccessibilityForAll #EqualAccess #InclusiveSpaces #BreakBarriers #AdvocateForChange #SupportInclusion #Donations #DisabilityRights #InclusiveCommunities #EqualAccess #RightsForAll #ActNow
