It’s the best time of the month! Our monthly project spotlight highlights our recently completed project with the Pullman Moscow Regional Airport (PUW) and the Alaska Airlines team! JWI served as the construction manager for the expansion of the airport's terminal from 8,000 to 45,000 square feet, marking a significant milestone for PUW. This project features a brand-new airline operations setup, including new Ops space, air-to-ground radio, locker rooms, a data center, a GSE break room, ticketing and gate counters with digital displays, bag tag stations, and signage. Additionally, the project included the addition of two new jet bridges and a state-of-the-art bag handling system — a first for PUW! The new terminal saw its first flight depart on May 22nd at 5 am, a proud moment for Pullman, Moscow, Washington State University, and the University of Idaho. We're grateful for the opportunity to work on this transformative project with Alaska Airlines! #Chicago #Denver #Orlando #construction #aviation #transportation #constructionmanagement #projectmanagement

During my minor on Aerospace Management we had to evaluate an airport’s market position, in this case we chose John F. Kennedy International Airport. 🌐✈️ Exploring JFK Airport's Market Position 🛫🔍 JFK Airport, a pivotal international gateway situated in New York City, has long been a cornerstone of global air travel. With over 1000 flights daily and a rich history dating back to its 1948 opening, JFK continues to play a crucial role in transatlantic travel and domestic connectivity. Despite its prime location on the east coast, facilitating direct flights from Europe, JFK's landscape is predominantly domestic, accounting for 58% of its air traffic. Over time, the airport's significance has evolved, from monopolizing North America-Europe flights in the 1960s to now serving as a bustling hub for various airlines. The competitive landscape within New York City presents challenges as well as opportunities. Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) and LaGuardia Airport (LGA), in close proximity, vie for similar routes and services, creating overlapping catchment areas. Our latest report delves into JFK's current market position through a comprehensive SWOT analysis. We scrutinize its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats while benchmarking its performance against surrounding competitors. This examination aims to illuminate strategic avenues for enhancing JFK's performance and securing its future as a leading global aviation hub. Read our in-depth report to uncover the dynamics shaping JFK Airport's trajectory in the aviation industry. #JFKAirport #AviationIndustry #SWOTAnalysis #Transportation

🚧 Major Construction Alert at JFK International! 🚧 Heads up, travelers! New York City's busiest airport is about to undergo a $19 billion transformation, and things are going to get worse before they get better. Expect major traffic disruptions this summer as construction kicks into high gear. 🛠️ “There’s no sugarcoating it. Building a new airport while maintaining full flight operations won’t come without impacts,” says Port Authority Chairman Kevin O’Toole. But the end result will be worth it—a world-class airport for decades to come. 🌟 What You Need to Know: Use the AirTrain from Jamaica or Howard Beach to avoid traffic. It connects to Grand Central, Penn Station, and Atlantic Terminal. For pickups, wait in the cell phone lots until passengers are outside the terminal. Drop-off and pick-up at the Lefferts Blvd AirTrain stop—just an 8-minute ride to the terminals. Pre-book your parking at JFKAirport.com. While it's a bit of a hassle now, the future brings two new international terminals, expanded and modernized terminals, a new ground transportation center, and a revamped roadway network. Plan ahead, stay patient, and look forward to a brand-new JFK! ✈️ #travelindustry #traveladvisor #travelagent #jfk #airline

What's The Minimum Distance For A Flight To Be Deemed A Long-Haul Service? According to a taxonomy set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), flight time is “the total time from the moment an aeroplane first moves for the purpose of taking off until the moment it finally comes to rest at the end of the flight.” Flight times can range from a minute (if you’re onboard Loganair’s flight LM711 between Westray and Papa Westray in Scotland) to Singapore Airlines’ 18-hour and 50-minute service between New York City JFK Airport and Singapore (SIN). Juneau International Airport (JNU) is one of only two ways to access Alaska’s capital city of Juneau. (The other is by boat.) Due to the mountainous terrain and severe weather conditions, JNU has a history of more delayed or cancelled flights than most airports. ✈️ In an effort to reduce those delays and cancellations, in 1996, Alaska Airlines became the first airline in the world to use an aircraft-based navigation, Required Navigation Performance (RNP) approach, to navigate the Gastineau Channel into Juneau. Today, RNP aircraft operate in terrain-challenged airports all over the world to fly precise ground tracks repeatedly, and approach closely spaced parallel runways in inclement weather. RNP approaches are also used to avoid restricted airspace such as that of Reagan National Airport outside Washington, D.C., with its proximity to the White House. Fact Contributor: Steve Noble, PE

Today marks the first year anniversary of the new Kansas City International (KCI) Airport terminal. Thanks to Patrick Klein, I got to fulfill my Airport DREAM in a Big Way just before the Grand Opening of the new terminal last February. This VIDEO explains it all. P.S. I can’t figure out how to upload more than one video, so I’ll add the videos that complete my Airport Story in separate posts. #airports #airportlife #airportservices #airportsafety #airport #airportoperations #airportjobs #airportmanagement #southwestairlines #americanairlines #deltaairlines #kansascity

When considering master planning efforts in aviation, thoughts likely turn to future airport terminal development and expansion or perhaps a reconfiguration of airfields to accommodate future growth. Master planning these giant projects is imperative, as a master plan can help airport operators schedule, budget, and coordinate improvements over a set amount of time to keep up with traveler demand. But these master plans aren't infallible.
