The top thing companies are focusing on when hiring engineers right now is 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆. But it’s holding them back. Some blue chips – won’t look at anyone without a certain level of maintenance-related qualification. Regardless of experience. Say there’s someone with a level 2 who has 20 years of experience and good longevity in their CV. They won’t even look to interview them, even though they might be a better fit than a level 3 engineer, with less experience. Health and safety should be paramount, but there should be exceptions made when an engineer has exceptional levels of experience. Along with a slightly lower level of qualification. Do you agree with this? Should engineers without the up-to-date H&S be instantly disqualified from the selection process? #Engineering #Recruiting #HealthAndSafety

Riddle me this: You review a job posting for a position you're interested in and on the application it's required to input your full address but in the job description the company doesn't post an address of where the new hire will be working at (non-remote). Hiring companies, it is in all fairness to just ASK for City, State and Zip Code on the application. 2nd Riddle: On most job descriptions from Staffing firms as an example don't tell you what industries they recruit in (ie: automotive manufacturing, IOT/IT, aerospace, mechanical engineering ect) . They just tell you what you will be doing on a daily bases and what hard/soft skills are required. The best way to identify good talent for the position(s) you're recruiting for, IS TO PICK UP THE PHONE, SMILE AND DIAL and have Q&A conversation with your next viable new hire. Don't have a Bot or AI software(s) make a decision for you otherwise you're competitor will snatch up quality talent. Think about it. Now don't be lazy.....go pick up the phone and call someone. I welcome comments. Cheers!

Hiring is hard with all the requirements that we have for engineers in our specific industries. Actually, I found that we are the hard part. I have multiple open positions. By rethinking the “how” we are experiencing a situation where I am overwhelmed with the amount of candidates who are excited to join our team. Seek out the talent without locking yourself with rules of expertise in you specific niche. You can teach the niche. Bring in others into your industry. Embrace the challenge.
