🌍 Everyone, everywhere, has a right to food. As we recognize #WorldFoodDay, we are reminded of the universal #RightToFood and the need to expand access to nutritious, safe, and affordable diets. No one should be left behind in the fight against hunger. Nuclear Science and Technology helps to close the gaps in productivity of crops thus contributing to food security: see the tangible results from an IAEA regional Technical Cooperation project in Asia:

The IAEA is launching a research project to use radiation to convert greenhouse gases into less harmful compounds or to develop materials that facilitate their capture and storage. New IAEA research aimed at developing innovative tools to capture #GHGs & use #radiation tech to convert them into harmless compounds, advancing climate action. Magnificent initiative About 10% of the food sold commercially would be counterfeited or adulterated. Among the most affected products are milk, olive oil or fish (source: The Atlantic). 60% of cases of fraud are dissolution or substitution of food products by others. Thus, to guarantee the authenticity of products, the isotope profile of agri-food products appears to be an essential method to check the ingredients. This can protect the reputation of companies and promote customer loyalty. #nutrition #foodsecurity #isotopes
