Fundamentals Webinar: Fluoridation of Water Supplies in QLD for Operators Join us this Wednesday, 29 May from 10.00 to 11.00 am for an introduction to the Fluoridation for Operators Micro-Credential that will be delivered over the coming months. Fluoridation in Queensland is regulated under the Water Fluoridation Act 2008 and Water Fluoridation Regulation 2020. The design and operation of infrastructure to add fluoride to drinking water supplies is described in the Queensland Water Fluoridation Code of Practice. The Water Fluoridation Regulation 2020 and the Code of Practice include a wide range of safeguards to ensure that fluoride is safely added to water supplies. The Code of Practice states that operators of fluoridation facilities must be appropriately qualified. This means they must have the necessary training, knowledge and experience to competently operate a fluoridation facility. The non accredited MC training course has been developed to support operators to meet the requirements of the Queensland regulation and code of practice. This course is not intended to meet all the requirements of the National Water Training Package or Units of Competency. This webinar is part of the qldwater Urban Water Micro Credential Program 2023 Project and acts as an introduction to a series of Micro-Credential courses which will be delivered between June and September 2024. A reliable and safe water supply is fundamental to public health and community well-being. A proficient and knowledgeable workforce is crucial in navigating the complex landscape of water treatment, distribution, and infrastructure maintenance. The importance of a well-trained workforce cannot be overstated. That is why Kansas Municipal Utilities (KMU) is excited to offer the KMU Water Distribution Academy – Novice. Over five months, this comprehensive five-session course is designed to immerse novice water distribution system operators in essential knowledge. The course not only equips attendees with practical insights to navigate real-world challenges in the field but also serves as an exam prep, with a KWEA/WPI Collections exam offered at the end of the 5th session of the academy. The curriculum draws on authoritative insights from Water Professionals International (WPI) and the American Water Works Association (AWWA). Attending individuals will be enrolling for the entire five-session course. Each session is from 9:00 AM - 3:30 PM at Kansas City BPU's Nearman Water Treatment Plant in Kansas City. Twenty hours of KDHE and KWEA/WPI water operator certification credit for individuals completing the academy track. Here are a few comments from those who have graduated from the Water Distribution Academy. "Informative and engaging, created a support resource." "Material I can use and share with coworkers. 🌊💡 Did you know the primary goal of wastewater treatment is to speed up the natural purification of water? By enhancing what nature already does, we can ensure cleaner water faster. The process involves two main stages: Primary Treatment: Solids settle and are removed. Secondary Treatment: Further breakdown of impurities. One of our program's goals is to strengthen the capacity of technical staff and operators of wastewater treatment plants to improve their knowledge and skills in enhancing existing wastewater treatment systems at both organizational and practical levels, thereby improving the efficiency of wastewater treatment plant operations. Let’s support efforts to refine and advance these essential processes for a sustainable future! The next Fundamentals Webinar in our Micro Credentials May series will take place on Tuesday 14 May 2024 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on the topic Making Use of Water Quality Data, presented by James Howey from Viridis Consultants. Data is needed to verify treatment processes are working as required to confirm safe quality water is provided to communities. However, teams should not only focus on checking data against numerical targets or guideline values. Systematic reviews and analysis of water quality data helps identify emerging problems and trends and assists in determining priorities for improving drinking water quality. This webinar is intended to help staff appreciate the value of using water quality data collected as part of operational roles, making use of tools like Excel spreadsheets and swimlocal to record data, see data trends, identify emerging issues, make informed decisions on corrective actions and comply with the organisation’s Drinking Water Quality Management Plan (DWQMP). This webinar is part of the qldwater Urban Water Micro Credential Program 2023 Project funded by the Department of Employment, Small Business and Training and acts as an introduction to the SCADA Micro-Credential course which will be delivered between June and September 2024. Please note that these Micro-Credentials are non-accredited courses developed by the industry, for the industry. Register from the link below 👇 https://lnkd.in/gh6pQJ8P
