February's rate of 4.2% comprised of 7,633 unemployed individuals, with 999 ongoing unemployment claims. Exciting News 🎉 On Feb. 26 the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) awarded $188,887 in Jobs and Education for Texans (JET) grants to Robinson ISD! This grant will enable 185 students to train as medical assistants, providing them with valuable skills while also addressing the increasing demand for high-skill occupations in our community. The JET Grant facilitates the purchase and installation of equipment necessary for hands-on training in these critical fields. Congratulations, Robinson ISD! Also awarded: -Academy Independent School District (ISD): a $192,850 grant to train 150 students in welding, soldering, cutting, brazing, and farm equipment mechanics in partnership with Temple College. -Temple ISD: a $331,346 grant to train 290 students as licensed vocational nurses in partnership with Temple College.

The unemployment rate in the Heart of Texas six-county region decreased to 3.1% in December 2023, marking a 0.1% drop from November 2023. The Heart of Texas six-county regional unemployment rate edged down to 3.2% for November, a decrease of .4% from October. Job growth for our region continues to trend upward, with an additional 1,100 jobs added in the month of November. 804 unemployment claims were reported for the month.
