Hello! Never posted here before, but thought I'd put the energy out in the universe that I'm ready for a new software engineering role. I'm a backend engineer with 8+ years of experience working mainly with Python and Ruby, but have dabbled in compiled languages and enjoy learning new technologies. I'm hoping to join a team of empathetic people working on interesting problems. Please reach out if you know of and are willing to share any remote or NYC-based hybrid opportunities--or if you just want to say hi! “A good rule might be that if you are the CEO of a public company and you have to lay off more than one percent of your employees, your salary is automatically frozen for three years and you give up any stock earnings during that time. It's only reasonable that if you're trying to save expenses by letting go of that much staff, the CEO should share in that pain -- for real, not just with a blog post about having to make a "difficult decision." That's what taking "full responsibility" really means. Sometimes layoffs seem like the best option, but it's important to remember that they don't happen because employees aren't doing their job. They happen because the CEO made a bet about the direction of the economy, and was wrong. It's always the employees who feel the most pain, but the leaders at the top should do more than take full responsibility. They should be held accountable.”
