Harris County Emergency Corps’ Post

Since #HurricaneBeryl impacted Harris County and the surrounding area on the morning of Monday, July 8th, HCEC and ESD #1 have witnessed record call volume with a significant impact on all aspects of our operations. Through the events of this past week, our Communications Center, Field Operations, Clinical Services Division, Maintenance and Infrastructure Support team, Logistics support, and Administration Support personnel remained on task and made certain that your 9-1-1 calls were answered. Through the state's activation of the Texas Emergency Medical Task Force 1, our service area received tremendous support from outside EMS agencies to alleviate the pressure the local EMS agencies were facing. We thank all of our neighboring First Responder Agencies and partners for their service this past week with a special “Thank you” to Scurry County EMS, Mitchell County Hospital District, Denton County Emergency Services District-1, Seminole Emergency Medical Service, Medical Jets International, LLC, Parker County Hospital District EMS, Richardson Fire Department, Dallas Fire-Rescue, Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services, City of Littlefield EMS, Covenant Health Ambulance Service, and Childress Regional Medical Center EMS. Our introduction to the men and women of these agencies was brought about because of a natural disaster; however, we had the extreme pleasure of working alongside a group of dedicated and professional medics. We truly cannot express enough to you the thanks we have for the help you all provided to us and the community this past week. While we are still amid the impact of the storm, with several of our staff and neighbors without electricity or running water—HCEC remains operational in support of the EMS needs of our service area. At the time of this post, our 9-1-1 Communications Center is still operating on a backup generator, awaiting our utilities to be fully restored; however, the commitment we have to the community of Harris County ESD1 is unwavering. #hcec911
