I don't get worried about the number of likes on my LinkedIn content. The key is consistency. Keep showing up. Keep spreading your mission, your goal, your story. 𝐇𝐞𝐫𝐞'𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐥𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭 🤫 Every Sunday afternoon, I prep my content for the week ahead. Some posts I have to delete if things have changed (startup life, the endless pivoting 😂). 𝐁𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐭𝐬: 🤓 Doesn't disturb my day job; I reply to comments during my lunch pitstop. 💆🏻♀️ Helps me stay on top of key metrics to be achieved the following week. 🥳 I compartmentalise; during the week, I have physical, designated places to progress Olea. My startup identity is totally separate from the 9-6. 𝐓𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬? 𝐃𝐨 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐚𝐥𝐬𝐨 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐢𝐦𝐞? 

Stuck much? I'll get you unstuck by the end of this post. I was stuck an hour ago, my mind was spinning: -What content do I need to edit next? -How many more times can I charge my credit card? -When is my newsletter supposed to go out? -Did I have something else going on? Ahhh, the duality of freedom. With more freedom, comes more choices. With more choices, less things get done. So, how do we get started? Here's how I did it (and generated my next beehiiv newsletter post): 1) Get a notebook, note app, or tablet out. 2) Write down a brief description of "why" you're doing this (ie, to unf**k my brain). 3) Scribble as many tasks as you can down, don't be shy. 4) Circle the ONE that most needs to get done. 5) Bonus: set a 20 minute timer and start working on that task. If you still don't want to work on it, take a break. Whether you're running a business, starting a YouTube channel, or just trying to get more organized this can definitely help you out. Startip #52 ⚡️ Response Times ⚡️ Happy Monday all. Today is more of an interactive Startip so any feedback would be greatly appreciated! In times when everything is at our fingertips, I often wonder what is considered an appropriate response time when it comes to messages, texts, calls or emails. You see, these days, it’s all about that instant gratification - think Amazon - online purchases for example. Gone are the days of waiting weeks for that purchase. Instead, if we don’t get an item we ordered within a day or two of ordering, the chances are, we will look elsewhere when it comes to that next purchase. So why should it be different when it comes to responding to customers or clients? Now, I appreciate there are many factors to take into consideration, like ensuring you send a planned and well thought out response rather than a rushed response just so you can tick it off your to do list. Or maybe there is a perception that if you respond too quickly, you simply aren’t that busy and have way too much time on your hands. Whatever the case may be, it’s sometimes difficult getting that balance right. Respond too quickly and you could be perceived as being too enthusiastic, but take your time and you are inefficient or couldn’t be bothered. So what is the perfect timing when it comes to responding in a professional or even personal situation? And taking it one step further, if you are in the professional services space, how long should it take for you to respond on a new engagement? I always try to set myself apart from others when it comes to efficiency and response times. Taking it even further, if I post on social media and I receive several responses, I will go out of my way to respond to each and every person that wrote to me - after all, if they have taken the time to wish me a happy birthday or congratulations on a milestone, then why shouldn’t they get a personal response in return? So my Startip today is twofold. Firstly, in my personal opinion, I would always prefer to be on the ball when it comes to response times, regardless of the possible negative connotations that might come with it. As one of the content writers mentioned in the article, I've been fortunate to be a part of this incredible journey. The spark for this venture was ignited when his previous Indie Hackers post hit the #1 spot on the front page. It became evident that every post on the front page had a custom image, possibly crafted by the IH team using Midjourney. This led to the realization that creating custom images for every article is a time-intensive task, a challenge that many bloggers grapple with. Like every Indie Hacker out there, he pondered the question: why not develop a tool to streamline this process? Hey LinkedIn! 👐 I'm coming at you with a little tale from the trenches. And let me tell ya, I've been whacking my head against this thing called Cold Email Outreach. It's like trying to crack a walnut with a spaghetti noodle! 💥 I'm juggling hats here – manager, marketer, salesperson, you name it. And guess what? Failing at this stuff? It's actually a blast! 😅 We sent out these cold emails, and they didn't just flop, they did a full-on belly flop! Spectacular disaster! But hey, it's all about learning, right? We didn't earn a single buck, but we got ourselves a masterclass in what we should avoid. We're taking the long way around, tweaking and testing. We even played around with different LLMs, trying to jazz up our emails. 🎷 I dove into this mess headfirst, learning stuff you can't just Google. My biggest mistake was that I wasn't targeting the right crowd. Tech startup founders – turns out a lot of them are coders. They don't need a whole circus; they just need a few clowns. Lesson learned! 💡 But as always, screwing up is part of the ride. That's where you grow. 🌱 You learn way more from a faceplant than a victory lap. And keeping your chin up, staying positive is what you should take seriously. It's not about how hard you hit the mat; it's about how high you spring back up! ⬆

Locations But that's just the start. Think of your content strategy as a pyramid, not a funnel. At the base of the pyramid, you have your commercial and transactional content - the stuff that drives revenue. Then, you build up with educational content that onboards users and establishes authority. And don't forget the links. They're the glue that holds your pyramid together. Remember, the goal isn't just to get users in the door. It's to turn them into customers and keep them coming back. Don't fear your red metrics -- let them fuel you instead. I had a massive Q1 here on LinkedIn: I went viral three times and almost doubled my following. I knew that would be tough to replicate, especially considering I went from being unemployed at the time--making it a lot easier to find the time to create content-to now am leading marketing efforts at an early stage startup [Flamel.ai]. Suffice to say, I'm a lot busier than I was then. Even so, some would look at those purple numbers and get discouraged. I just see it as a testament to the my Q1 success (extremely difficult to replicate) and a nice reminder that I need to start posting quality content on a consistent basis again. Now I need to figure out how to find the time and energy to do so again... 🫠 The metrics won't always be green and that's okay. If they were, we'd never learn a thing! Let them fuel you. ⛽️
