Hanna Center is the proud annual host of the Valley of the Moon Music Festival, and this year they also celebrated their 10th Anniversary with Music Across the Americas. Some Hanna staff were fortunate enough to be near the auditorium in the mornings for rehearsals to appreciate the musicians and their gorgeous instruments. We are still buzzing from last Wednesday's Sonoma Valley Community Health Worker Gathering. CHWs, CHRs, and Promotoras de Salud from several different organizations came together to discuss resource connections, common challenges in the field, and opportunities for professional development. Together we developed several valuable resources and can't wait to share them with you all, so stay tuned! We have made it to 1,000 followers on Instagram! That big, beautiful number is a reminder of this incredible community and the power we have to create change. It also reminds us that 63 in 1,000 Medi-Cal members between the ages 0 to 17 that were screened for ACEs (Adverse Childhood Experiences) during January 1, 2020 – June 30, 2023, had an ACE score of 4 or higher. High ACE scores are attributed to many troubling outcomes. Scores of 4 or above can mean they are at a higher risk of risk for alcohol and substance use disorder, depression, and suicide attempts; they were also much more likely to be diagnosed with cancer, develop emphysema, marry an alcoholic, have strokes and heart attacks, and have shorter lives. We are committed to ensuring the community’s lasting well-being by disrupting unhealthy cycles and achieving sustainable outcomes. A collaborative art project has transformed the walls of our Community Mental Health Hub, bringing joy and calm to clients and staff alike. Several community groups were invited to create tiles at Sonoma Valley Museum of Art. These small but powerful works of personal art were then hung, mosaic-style, throughout the Hub. Artistic expression is healing for the individual and the collective. Thank you to Sonoma Valley Museum Of Art, the museum’s resident teaching artist, Miki Hsu Leavey, and Pat Meier-Johnson, Sonoma Treasure Artist 2022, who helped bring this vision to life! #hannacenter #sonomavalley #caretreathelp #mentalhealthhub
