The Greenvolt Group was present at the European Sustainable Energy Week #EUSEW2024, held last week in Brussels and broadcast worldwide. Our Director of Regulatory Affairs, Sofia Pinto Barbosa, participated in the session “Energy storage + renewables: the proven formula in action,” where it was discussed how replicating successful business cases can facilitate the integration and optimal performance of #storage and renewables, and how industry, government, and the financial sector can collaborate to expedite funding and drive the energy transition. "Integrating high level of intermittent Renewable Energy Sources (RES) at the same time we will be displacing fossil fuel generation capacity will require a wide range of storage technologies. Member States need to assess their flexibility needs and establish storage targets that are adapted to their national circumstances. Long-term secure revenue market mechanisms are critical for creating an attractive environment for battery energy storage investments. One of the main bottlenecks for renewable energy deployment is the grid. In this context, batteries will play a key role by enabling energy shifting and providing essential grid services. Additionally, hybridizing projects can optimize grid use, facilitating faster integration of renewables and enable significant infrastructure savings”, stated Sofia Pinto Barbosa. #EnergyStorage plays a critical role in deploying renewables and achieving environmental and energy goals, that's why we are increasingly investing in these technologies across all business segments: Sustainable Biomass power plants, Utility-Scale and Distributed Generation projects.

LevelTen Energy joins industry leaders to advocate for the rapid implementation of Granular Guarantees of Origin (GOs). From my personal point of view, it is the only logical evolution of GOs, and the only way forward, more now that the Renewable Energy Directive enables it. To be more specific, Granular GOs offer several benefits, among others: --> They will be needed for verification of Green Hydrogen. --> They create signals for flexibility and value of the (renewable) energy. --> They will enhance voluntary claims, limiting greenwashing. International Energy Agency (IEA)’s #Renewables 2024 Report: Accelerating Growth but More Needed for Net Zero by 2050 The Renewables 2024 report from the IEA delivers crucial insights into the future of global energy, forecasting the deployment of renewable technologies in electricity, transport, and heat to 2030. Released ahead of the #COP29 United Nations (UN) Climate Change Conference, where governments pledged to triple the world’s installed renewable energy capacity by 2030, the report presents a comprehensive country-level analysis to track progress toward this ambitious target. Key highlights include: 🔹 Global renewable capacity is expected to grow by 2.7 times by 2030, with solar PV and wind driving 95% of this expansion. 🔹 Hydrogen and renewable fuels take center stage for the first time, with a special chapter on bioenergy, biogases, hydrogen, and e-fuels. However, renewable hydrogen is forecasted to contribute just 4% of global hydrogen production by 2030, despite increasing policy support. 🔹 The cost competitiveness of renewables, along with government policies, is unlocking new demand from the private sector, while industrial policies encouraging local manufacturing of solar and wind technologies are boosting domestic markets. 🔹 Major challenges remain, including grid infrastructure and the integration of renewable energy sources, with the need for policy improvements to unlock faster growth, particularly in emerging economies. The report also emphasises the importance of hydrogen, bioenergy, and e-fuels for decarbonizing industries, buildings, and transport. However, further innovation and policy support are essential to meeting the Net Zero by 2050 scenario. #RenewableEnergy #Sustainability #CleanEnergy #NetZero #ClimateAction #SolarPower #WindEnergy #GreenEnergy #IEA #EnergyTransition #Hydrogen #H2 #Decarbonisation https://lnkd.in/eht5TjEU

HyFlux: Leading the Lightweight Superconducting Hydrogen Powertrain Revolution for Aviation The International Energy Agency (IEA) Renewables 2024 report highlights the critical role of hydrogen in the future of clean energy, and at HyFlux, we’re proud to be at the forefront of innovation with our superconducting hydrogen powertrain for aviation. As the world moves towards decarbonization, the aviation industry is set for transformative change. Key insights from the report underscore the growing role of hydrogen: ✈️ Global electrolyzer capacity is set to increase 50x by 2030. ✈️ Hydrogen will drive 43 GW of new renewable capacity by 2030. ✈️ 40% of hydrogen demand will come from the transport sector, including aviation, by 2030. ✈️ Renewable fuels, including hydrogen, will account for 15% of demand growth by 2030. ✈️ High costs remain a barrier, but hydrogen adoption must double to meet net-zero targets by 2050. At HyFlux, we’re tackling these challenges head-on by developing superconducting hydrogen powertrains, optimising both power density and efficiency — so using less hydrogen. This will not only unlock the potential of hydrogen for #aviation but also support industries like steel and chemical production in achieving low-emission solutions. With a forecasted 5,500 GW of renewable capacity growth by 2030, the future of aviation and heavy industries is clear – hydrogen is the key to unlocking a cleaner, more sustainable world. #Hydrogen #Aviation #NetZero #Sustainability #RenewableEnergy #CleanAviation #SuperconductingMotors #EnergyTransition #HyFlux #GreenAviation
