Last year, a friend told me they sell drinks at local vendor markets. They were doing it as a hobby for fun, and they wanted to see if they could make decent money from it. I asked them to walk me through their talk track anytime a customer visited their booth. (TALK TRACK = curated statements and questions designed to move a conversation forward) Their talk track would introduce the flavors they sell and finish it by saying, "So yeah, this is what I do." My friend's talk track needed a call to action. I suggested adding a question at the end of their talk track, "Which flavored drink would you like?" RESULT: This one change in behavior helped increase their revenue by 2x the following quarter. TAKEAWAY: Almost all businesses can increase their sales by asking for the sale.
