Here are some main takeaways from the discussion: I- much of our efforts in the entrepreneurship ecosystem in Egypt do not reach beneficiaries specifically women aged 30+ in rural areas. 2- still the no 1 channel to reach this target group is face book 3- much needed is a stakeholder mapping of initiatives focused on women 4- the creative industry is still underserved

Happy International Women's Day to all the phenomenal women out there! On this occasion, I want to talk about a quiet truth – many girls have dreams, big ambitions burning bright in their hearts. But the path to achieving them often feels shrouded in mystery. Think about it: countless young women have plans, a burning desire for success, yet lack the crucial support system to translate those dreams into reality. It's a gap that often goes unnoticed, but even a small step, a helping hand, can make a world of difference. Through my experience with programs like Desk Ke Mentor, I interacted with girls from grades 9-12. It opened my eyes to a whole section of society where the spark of ambition ignites in their eyes, but the tools to channel that fire – guidance, mentorship – remain elusive. I can't express enough gratitude for the unwavering support I received from my family. But this realization struck me: we, as a community, need to become that support system for those who need it most. Let's bridge the gap and empower these girls to chase their dreams with confidence. Are you part of a program that mentors students? I'd love to contribute! Let's build a future where dreams have a roadmap, where girls don't just dream, they achieve! ✨ #WomensDay #MentorshipMatters #EmpoweringGirls #breakingbarriers

It’s interesting to be a UN Women UK delegate to the Commission on the Status of Women, alongside my colleagues and friends, Grace Akinyi and Pauline Ooko from the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Edinburgh. I’m looking forward to both the training and the event. I’m keen to know the plan for women and young girls in society while also sharing my findings from working with women and girls for over 6 years now. When we look at issues of women's empowerment, we need to consider what empowerment? where, when, and how? We need to consider context and timing. We need to look into building sustainable systems, as simple as a system of mentorship, which must be consistent and sustainable. How effective is this empowerment in terms of women's needs? How do we measure this empowerment, with what indicators, and are the indicators right for the context? Is this adequate empowerment? If not, what other empowerment should we include? What aspect of empowerment do we need to bring other stakeholders into? Is women's empowerment complex or complicated? Where do we start or continue? I’m happy to share and see where we are at with women's empowerment and where we need to be while adding the concerns of some women and girls I have worked with in rural communities, urban cities, and across countries. #UNWomenUK
