D-1 athletes aren't going out and hunting down schools they want to attend, right? Coaches go out and recruit them to join their team. When you're recruiting for your team, you have to think about it the same way. A-Players are passive, meaning they're not actively looking for a new opportunity. Your recruiting function needs to go out and hunt down the top talent you want at your company. Hear more from Jake about searching for top talent ⬇️

Josh, what a vivid and exciting analogy! Drawing the parallel between Jamal Murray's dramatic buzzer-beater shot and the thrill of landing an amazing candidate for a tough recruiting role is brilliant. I can totally picture it - you get handed one of those roles that everyone has struggled to fill, the clock is winding down, but you stay cool under pressure. You meticulously gameplan your recruiting strategy, going into the talent marketplace to identify, attract, and assess top candidates. It's like you're dribbling down the court, sizing up the defense. And then comes the climactic moment - you skillfully navigate the candidates through interviews, build consensus among the hiring team, and make the offer right as the clock expires. When that perfect candidate enthusiastically accepts, it must feel like draining that buzzer-beating three-pointer! The hiring team goes wild, celebrating the big win of landing a top talent. The adrenaline, the elation, the drama - it's such a perfect metaphor for that hard-fought recruiting victory. Just like the Nuggets players mobbed Jamal in jubilation, I can imagine your team rejoicing at the news of adding an A-player to the ranks. What a rush that "buzzer-beater" moment must be after all the behind-the-scenes work and perseverance it takes. Finding talented people is challenging enough, but filling those tough roles requires true skill and grit as a recruiter. Kudos to you for embracing those moments and delivering excitement for your teams!

What’s your "buzzer-beater" moment? Jamal Murray’s game winning shot last night reminded me of the thrill that comes with last second heroics. In my world of recruiting the closest thing to a game winning, buzzer-beater moment comes when I'm handed one of those "tough to fill" roles. I enjoy nothing more than developing a gameplan for how to fill it, and then go into the marketplace to attract, engage with, and assess candidates, guiding a candidate through an interview process and driving a team toward a decision. The shot goes up as time expires ... offering the position and hearing their enthusiastic "Yes!" And the crowd goes wild, or, the team rejoices at the news of talent joining the ranks. GO NUGGETS! #RecruitingLife #GameWinningMoments #Winning

"Being aware of your weaknesses, or your greatest weakness, as the question may require, indicates to hiring managers that you possess a growth mindset, which will likely extend to the teams you manage. It also demonstrates that you welcome and invite feedback, and use this to help you grow. Hiring managers also ask this question to assess your fit within the organizational culture, particularly if their company values align with humility, honesty, and coachability."
Here you are, one of the fortunate shortlisted candidates for a management position, being considered internally for a promotion, or externally for career progression. Perhaps one of the trickiest curveball questions that could make or break your chances of securing the role is, "What are your weaknesses?" or "What's your greatest weakness?" https://trib.al/uGLACgy

*THAT INCREDIBLE FEELING!* Ok, so fellow wrestling fans will get the reference below, but recruiters will understand just how good it feels to place a candidate into a role. And it's an even better feeling when you've been helping that person for a while! Over the past couple of months, I've felt this a few times. And it's been a pleasure each time. Because the process is slightly different to the norm. Sometimes you have to go out and actually find the right company for them, and that company won't be a current client. The rejections, the "no thanks" replies and the ever-so-occasional rude responses from directors are all things recruiters deal with daily. You eventually learn to roll with the punches this industry throws at you. So when a company decides to engage with your approach and actually hires the person in question, what an amazing feeling that is! A feeling that we all need to remember the next time an outreach doesn't go our way. The wins far outweigh the losses in our game. And if you feel that you need to be somewhere that is going to allow you to 'win' more, then drop me a message today and we can chat. Have a brilliant day everyone! #recruitment #recruiting #rec2rec #newopportunities #recruitmentproblems
